Would honestly be fine if they retconned the Monster Maroon from that era. I really like that uniform most of the time, but when they removed the turtleneck and the belt it just looked silly. Either go with the classic or go with something new.

Some one got dressed in a hurry, ;)

And I really don't understand why captain Worf wears yellow ops/security uniform. He switched from yellow to red in those DS9 days and and he was wearing red in all TNG movies after Generations. So I don't understand why Starfleet captain that is obviously in command division now wears yellow again. It has no sense. Yellow uniform and four pips looks like a mess.

They are nice uniforms. I just wish I could see them. :)
I don’t like the variant ones La Forge and Data wears. It looks like they have an apron over it.

I think it was Metalas that explained that he switched back to yellow when he joined Starfleet security.

But can someone explain me that combadge of Shelby?

That's specifically the Chancellor's badge, I thought?

When the uniforms and props from this season were on display on the Star Trek Cruise, this badge was described as a Flag Officer's Badge. It also said "the wearer's rank is indicated by elongated silver bars positioned behind the Starfleet insignia, which is worn on the jacket's left breast."

Commodore is also flag officer rank. But Geordi doesn't wear that combadge. It must be optional.

I would argue that there is more evidence to suggest that commodore is not a flag rank in the 24th century. Commodore Oh wears a standard duty uniform not a flag officer's like Clancey's, and Commodore La Forge's uniform is more similar to Commander Ro's than to Admiral Shelby's (it doesn't have the gold braiding on it). Additionally, as you say, La Forge is not wearing a flag officer's combadge in Season Three.

Commodores are not always flag ranks in modern-day navies either, so there is precedence.

But there is no evidence on-screen to back up that claim, and plenty of evidence against it.

I would argue that Memory Alpha are making assumptions based on the rank in the US Navy, rather than what is shown to actually be the case in Star Trek.

Are they a "Flag Officer", are they not a "Flag Officer"?

It's almost like Ross & Rachel from "Friends".
Were they on a break, were they not on a break?

So much ambiguity. In my 26th century Head Canon, all Flag Officers will have 5-Pointed Star Pips instead of Circle Pips.
Each of the flag Officers will be wearing a cape of some form to denote their "Flag Officer Status".
Let's make it "Clear as Day".

Commodores are pretty much the protocol equivalent of a flag officer in most services that assign them a discrete insignia/uniform compared to senior officers.

LaForge and Oh not wearing flag officer uniforms could be either personal choice or related to them holding staff rather than line/fleet command roles.

Out of universe, the most likely explanation is that the wardrobe department got confused and it wasn't important enough to the rest of the production for them to go back and fix it if they noticed.

Um, no. Ro's is identical to Shelby's (except the braiding) while Geordi's has additional division coloured panels.

It also said "the wearer's rank is indicated by elongated silver bars positioned behind the Starfleet insignia, which is worn on the jacket's left breast."

If that information from the cruise is correct, she should have one bar more than Picard. But I'm pretty sure it's the same badge.

Frankly, the uniforms this season are a mess. They introduced 3 additional duty uniform variants and an unneccessary FC variant. They at least tried to explain one (Riker's) but no reason has popped up so far for the other two (Ro, LaForge). And in the end everyone was wearing the field jacket for no particular reason other than it is a cool looking jacket.

Agreed.

The costume designer (in a segment on The Ready Room) said they gave Ro a different uniform because the script called for her to have pockets - I assume for her to take her earring out of to give to Picard, but I didn't even notice she did this (pulled it from her pocket) until I rewatched the episode. It seems a bit drastic to design a whole new uniform just for that. I'm sure there were other ways around it.

All divisions have all ranks.
