Spoilers The Mandalorian Season 3

The hat Dave Filoni was wearing in his cameo 2 weeks ago was not one of his, but made by the costume department. He wasn’t allowed to keep it. He, and the others were allowed to keep the jackets though.

Jon Favreau said he took one of the dark sabers and beskar chainmail shirts home.

That was a good episode but I’m disappointed that this new Hux isn’t played by a Weasley. It was nice to see Pelleaon there. They’re only respectable Imperial. Project Necromancer must relate to the rebirth of Palpatine.
It is odd that we have some pretty major stuff happening and that Luke and his crew aren’t part of it. It makes the threat feel less important in a way.

Were those Sith guards at the end there? They’re a long way from Exegol.

Loved it. Hoping we get a glimpse of Thrawn next week maybe..

Also extra loved it as I figured out how to turn the HFR/TruMotion off on my TV for Disney+!

Seems we have a good excuse to see Pedro’s face next episode too. Now captured, I could see Gideon taking his helmet off just to be a dick.

That kinda explains the lighthearted romp from last week.........shit is gonna be heavy from here out it seems.

I’m surprised Daala wasn’t in the shadow council.

If she still existing in the canon, she probably hasn't be found yet. Maybe Skeleton Crew will run into her.

On the Stardust Prototype station. Which might have the tech on it to lead into Starkiller Base.

Not currently but they could have brought her in easily enough

We only got names of two people on that council, Brendol Hux, who is an existing character from lore, the father of Hux from the Sequels, and Gilad Pellaeon.

The subtitles didn't name any of the others.

The actor they got to played Pellaeon is pretty spot on. Though I guess it's not very hard to cast old white guy with mustache.

I like the new Dark Troopers a lot, plus the fact they now have colors to them other than black, red and silver. Hasbro is definitely giving us a figure of this design, at bare minimum in the 6" Black Series if not the 3.75" Vintage Collection.

Oh look a dramatic, heavy episode where lots happened immediately after a pallet cleansing quasi-comedic caper! Who could have possible seen that coming!?
Thoughts in random order: -
  • I'm honestly a little surprised that they ALL up and left Navarro just as soon as they arrived. Though I suppose some would have stayed behind with the foundlings?
  • I'll admit, I didn't see Krang Grogu coming.
  • No sightings of Clan Wren or The Protectors yet. I wonder why they weren't approached? Maybe they were all wiped out during the purge? It would certainly add a little extra context to Sabine hermitizing herself on Lothal all this time if Ursa, Alrich, Tristan & Rau are all dead.
  • Not sure an Imperial probe droid is the most covert means of contacting imbedded assets on Coruscant. How hard would it have been to infiltrate a non-descript astromech or protocol droid? Unless of course the NR repurposed those things for traffic control or street sweeping or some such.
  • The casting for Pellaeon seems spot on. Not just the look, but the personality and demeanor feels like it's right out of the book. I think someone did their homework!
  • No sight or sign of Rae Sloane amidst the Shadow Council. As the only other Grand Admiral besides Thrawn known to still be at large, you'd think she'd be a major place . . . assuming Hux didn't already bump her off.
  • I really hope 'Project Necromancer' isn't what it sounds like, but a deliberate mislead. Project names are supposed to obfuscate their purpose, not advertise them!
  • Sackoff is really showing her dramatic chops in this one. Not just that whole bit with her confession of surrender, but the scene where Din affirms his service to her; she seemed genuinely touched and taken aback. I think up to this point (since the mines, anyway), she'd been thinking of Din as more of an equal partner and ally than as someone in her service. More evidence that she's finally becoming worthy of her station.
  • So these Mandalorians survived stranded on the irradiated surface in their landsailer for the best part of a decade, have already been to the great forge, but only NOW do they wake up the giant kaiju that swats them like a bug? I don't know, that bit felt a little unnecessary (unless it comes back into play later.)
  • I kinda assumed this was heading towards Imperial Supercommandos, though I like how it finally tied up the various threads of what secret projects Gideon has been cultivating; he's making force sensitive clone commandos, and keeping it from the others. The Sith Eternal probably won't be happy about that . . .
  • I did like how they seem to be using the Tiber Saxon helmet. Always like that design better than the standard Imperial Supercommando one, and make perfect sense to re-use it here.
  • Also did I misunderstand what he said, or did he imply all those troopers are clones of him? That's . . . mildly creepy.
  • I can't really articulate why; but having the TIE Interceptors hanging face down like bats just seems unreasonably cool looking. And they're actually using the rear hatch! Finally!!!
  • I kinda figured Paz was going to get a Heroic Last Stand sooner or later. His having a son kinda tipped it off. Really liked his gun overheating to the point of melting. A nice touch appreciated I'm sure by anyone that played BF2!
  • How much do we want to bet Ragnar gets adopted as a ward of House Kryze? Now there's a historical irony!
That was a good episode but I’m disappointed that this new Hux isn’t played by a Weasley.
Well, at least he was a Moody (sans the mad eye . . .)
Were those Sith guards at the end there? They’re a long way from Exegol.
No, they're Praetorians. IIRC there's a mention of Rax training child soldiers on Jakku in the year before the retreat to serve as a Praetorian Guard. Presumably they're also meant to be the same type that were (poorly) guarding Snoke (using similar weapons too.) Either way, I like this design better. Much closer to the full armoured Red Guard from the old Crimson Empire comics.
Side-note: looks like they reused the moulds for the First Order Stormtrooper chestpiece. The back view gives it away; definitely not a reuse of either the Sith Trooper or the FO Praetorian costume pieces as one might expect.
I’m surprised Daala wasn’t in the shadow council.
I'm not. She's a terrible character, not worth using. Ysanne Isard on the other hand . . .
