Paramount apparently still doesn't get it...

As much as I agree I also genuinely feel this is the current trend.

When they blasted the USS Discovery off into the ludicrously far-off future, I felt that way too. However, LD, PRO and PIC S1 and 2 demonstrate that there’s still some balance in the franchise, and willingness to take risks.

Ironically, I only like about half of that material (I enjoy PRO and PIC S1) myself. But, I absolutely respect the other stuff for trying to keep things fresh, even though it’s not my thing.

Legacy? Why don't we roll out George Takei for a Captain Sulu series while we're at it?

"Flashback" convinced me a Captain Sulu series was something that wasn't meant to be. I didn't dislike it, but it didn't leave me wanting more either.

They’ve already infantilised the franchise with the cartoon shows.Time now for “Star Trek:saved by the bell.”

I like cartoons and I'm a big girl. Even the animated series had some great concepts. I think there's room for a lot in the franchise. And people can always pick and choose what they watch. (Except for fans who must watch everything so as to pick and choose what to bitch about.)

Tell me, in what era will academy will put into? The 32nd Century?
Thus far the assumption is 32nd century. Matalas tweeted something about it and press blurb hints at it.

There is limited information so naturally it the worst thing ever and amazing all at once.

Completely understandable, I too struggle remembering them despite the fact they are Best Characters of the Modern Era, apparently it's been decided.

“The fans” being…who? People on social media who whined about every other modern Trek and happen to like S3 of Picard because it’s a TNG reunion?

There’s nothing to suggest Picard S3 has made any mainstream breakthrough, and thus no compelling commercial reason to have a spin-off of it. If anyone is in a position to know that, it’s Paramount.

Maybe I haven’t been paying attention, but when was the official announcement by CBS/Paramount that this ‘Star Trek Legacy’ thing is even a thing? And if it is a thing, how do we know what it’s actually about?

There was four years between Anson Mount's first appearance as Pike and SNW airing. The idea that Paramount was gonna fast track a Shaw/Seven/Titan whatever series before season 3 is even over was wishful thinking. Do I expect it to happen? Sure. But not like tomorrow.
