When I was a kid, we had the BEST Golden Retriever. He insisted on helping with the groceries, so we had to give him things to carry; for years, all our sandwich bread had teeth marks on one end.
Our rottie liked to bring in the paper. Take him out in the morning tell him to find the paper (which never landed in the same spot twice) and he'd run around like a mad thing looking for it. Wednesdays would be ever better - the local free paper was delivered so he'd wind up with two of them in his mouth.
Our dog did that, too....but would get a bit carried away and take every paper on the street. My mom had to go over to several neighbors and hand them back their paper--now with dog slobber and tooth holes on it.
