...not if everyone else on the planet evolves, grows a conscious and comes to their senses.
Because humans have the capacity to make ethical choices above and beyond what animals are capable of. We are also omnivores and adaptable to many diets that specific animals cannot tolerate.

It's not " wrong " for an animal who "doesn't know any better", but humans know better and are therefore living in denial and in a constant state of cognitive dissonance if they continue to slaughter other animals for food. This isn't judgement, it's a fact. And one that I am also on rare occasion guilty of, so I don't set myself apart too mightily.

I actually support humane, sustainable agriculture, even including the raising of animals for food ... and I don't believe in food waste when an animalwas sacrificed for human wants. And there is certainly a plethora of waste in standard farming practices. I also support legal, responsible hunting, although it's not something I'll ever do myself.

Those people from Azerbaijan have it down: their free range animals are treated like absolute Royalty and their people live largely outside right along with them. That's the way to go if I person is going to do it.

This only works if you treat humans as animals. Which is a whole other philosophical debate.

@cosmic mouse covered one reason pretty much, and for me it's also the fact that they don't raise millions of zebra, water buffalo, ect. in captivity for the sole reason of killing later to eat them.
As long as their are other options available, I'm always going to choose the vegan, cruelty free option for anything I buy, not just food.

I just want to make it clear that I am not saying any of this in attempt to change anybody minds, and I don't mean to say or imply that eating meat makes you a bad person, these are just my thoughts and feelings about why I personally choose to be a vegan. I know plenty of people that I respect and admire, who are wonderful people, who eat meat. If anyone wants a better understanding of what lead me to this decision, I would highly recommend checking out the social media pages for Life With Pigs Animal Sanctuary, Arthur's Acres Animal Santuary, Booches and Hispees (they're the person pages for the couple who run Rancho Relaxo) and Blackbird Animal Refuge.

TNG tried that in Season 1. You saw how dull that was.

I think it's efforts to sanitize everything about humanity that bothers me. We don't like the icky stuff that's a part of our nature or our history, so we try and sanitize it in the name of one form of consciousness and morality.

That's the Market and it will adjust. All meat departments where I shop are shrinking. May be inflation, higher prices causing less purchasing. Or there may be less demand because of plant-meat options but either way less butchering is being done somewhere.

I have had very good plant meat before and I plan to buy more plant options as, or if, they become affordable.

Today's frustration, are they ever going to start filling the damn potholes on main roads... how bad do they have to get before they start addressing them?!

You should try driving in Miami. It's either potholes or potholes that were filled unevenly, making it worse.

It almost feels like the county is making roads worse on purpose just to make sure our vehicles get worn down worse so the shops get more repair work.

I would settle for unevenly filled over suspension breaking bottomless pits. lol

Oh yeah, anyone put air in their tires lately? I usually stop by the shop where I buy my tires for a free air top-off but leaving the gas station today I happened to notice the water/air filling station sign...

$2 freaking dollars for air or water. I almost crashed from the shock! lol I realize 2 ain't shit these days, but for air... just, ridiculous.

The problem with unevenly filled potholes is it creates the same problems as just potholes, particularly since there are so many of them.

Being from the Midwest, I'm also quite familiar with potholes. :sigh:

And after you hit one, your soul leaves your body and you end up apologizing to your car.

Where do you live? Currently, in the Spokane area, it's only just starting because freezing conditions and heavy traffic will just make them worse. So, they wait until the temperatures warm up enough to prevent further damage.

Some places in my area do. I just bought a compressor.

That's one nice thing about living in the southwest, we don't get potholes on anywhere near the level of the east and north.

Yup. We had a dusting of snow Thursday and a pickup truck did a rollover. Also, one time, I saw a random truck hit the curb and flip over. Craziest thing. Still don't know what happened.

One video shows a small car hit a gate just creeping along, hit a gate and flip.

Scammers are active. Local shops are finding credit card skimmers on their card readers. So frustrating to have to be constantly on the lookout for this nonsense.
