Honestly not surprised. Star Wars has found its niche on TV, and I don't expect any movies for the foreseeable future. Also, as noted, Johnson has the Knives Out sequels to keep him busy. But I guess now we end the rational discourse part of this thread and begin frothing at the mouth about how Kathleen Kennedy is a Failure who is murdering Star Wars?
I'm just surprised they finally admitted it. I thought they were going to keep threatening us with this thing forever.
I'm shocked. Shocked I tells ya! I haven't been this taken aback since they cancelled the last Star Wars movie. And the one before that.
Yeah just strange it took so long to say. I use Instagram a lot and people in comments of Star Wars posts are still obsessed with bashing with the sequels. Honestly I don't even think about them anymore, with all the Disney+ content in the last couple of years those movies in my head are just like some obscure miscalculation that once happened
The source for this is some random small website that even the subreddit about being angry at Star Wars seems to have removed because its not reliable. So, consider me skeptical. Also, those quotes just scream bullshit. The average movie goer liked The Last Jedi, the damn movie made over a billion dollars and got an "A" for its cinema score. Just because a small group of loud angry idiots, most of which were the same people complaining about there being a Black stormtrooper in TFA, started frothing at the mouth and spamming bullshit online doesn't mean most people that saw TLJ disliked it. So, there is no real bad reaction for Disney to get "passed". Now, to be fair, Disney also rehired JJ Abrams and fucked up Rise of Skywalker by going against a lot of TLJ, but you'd think they'd have learned how bad an idea that had ended up being. Disney did with TRoS what WB did with The Snyder Cut: They listened to the loud assholes online, and it bit them on the ass. Star Wars desperately needs to go back to doing movies (along with TV), and I'm sure Rian would do a great trilogy. Until a legitimate news site reports otherwise, I'm going to assume things are still in the works with him.
Yeah, the desperation is becoming unbearable. If they don't release a movie soon the franchise as at a risk of imploding. My Baby Yoda Funko toy may self-combust, ffs.
That's going be it. I hoped it would happen, and not bothered if it wouldn't happen. The bashing of Kennedy is tiresome though. How?
Cool. So all Star Wars disappears forever?! Finally! However, you'll need to change your avatar. I have spoken.
I think you mean the average professional critic as opposed to the average moviegoer. TROS made over a billion dollars too, but you don't see anyone holding that up as evidence of its popularity for some strange reason. Utter drivel. In what way did the Snyder cut bite WB on the ass? And if making a billion dollar movie is the standard, how is that considered a success in TLJ's case but with TROS it becomes getting bitten on the ass?
The Snyder Cut wasted 75 million extra dollars and didn't bring in the subscriber numbers to justify it. Thats because the Snyder Cult isn't, and has never been, big enough to make the Snyder stuff profitable. They're loud, obnoxious and frequently nasty, but they don't have any real pull and WB messed up by giving in to them, and they know they did. Also, Cinemascore is derived from audience reactions, not critics, so the average movie goer that saw The Last Jedi liked it, axccording to that particular measure. I've also never met any rabid haters IRL, its just people whining online.
Not unhappy at all about this. I didn't like The Last Jedi or Rian Johnson's take on many of the legacy SW characters, so yeah, buh-bye.
So, were stuck at.. well, where we were yesterday, They'd like to work with Rian, and him them, but he's busy and this is just fan wank site. .. okay, going back to bed..
Indeed. At this point in time I file all Star Wars and Star Trek related news in to the shred bin. Most of it is click bait, creates a minor fan divide and then another article goes, "Ha, kidding!" in some way. I enjoyed The Last Jedi, and generally am ok with Johnson's work. If he makes a Star Wars film, great. If he doesn't, also great. It sounds absurdist, but is all the fans lives really that fussed over a movie being made or not made? Because I really was OK with my Star Wars long before I had the PT.
