I agree. But sometimes there are cases like the Borg for example, that became retconned so much that not much of the original concept is left.

In such cases, i'd like to see new species that are based on the original versions. Without the unneccesary and sometimes really bad alterations.

Hope this also happens for the Borg someday ;)

The Borg are overdone. As far as fan service left in the past, the Borg are second on my list to leave behind.

Yes, that's true for the FC/Voyager Borg. But i would really like to see a species resembling the original tech scavengers from "Q, Who". Maybe not cyborgs or humanoids this time but as insectoids or in another really alien form.

Would be interesting to give such a species another new, innovative and alien motive for going after the technology of other species than simply assimilation to improve the collective.

I'll leave you to it. The Borg were a thin concept to begin with. It's not one I want more of.

I'd love to get a part from the PICARD serial which discusses or an appearance of Riker's replacement on the Enterprise; there must've had interesting journey's together after Nemesis.

I'm of the opinion that everything from the third season of the original series onward is fan service.

The Borg served their purpose in "Q Who"--a mysterious menace who could not be threatened, tricked or talked down by Captain Earl Grey. Every appearance to follow was the TNG showrunners attempting to give a "big sci-fi battle film" tone to a series that was intentionally created to be as sterile as TMP.

The Borg's legacy would have been better served as a one-and-done, with the fact that they were out there--somewhere, but never seen again establishing an effective creep factor.

It really IS a small universe. I was just googling the other day to see if I could find that movie for free, after reading somewhere that it stars Diana Rigg. So, of course I want to see it.

Alas, I couldn’t find it for free anywhere. I may have to purchase the blu ray.
