What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Maybe it's more Elvis vs. the Beatles. They're different, but you can like them both.
In the 60's I was promoted tas the official remote control at the early age of 6. we were only allow to watch Dad approved programming. it was the news then The Lieutenant. Creature feature evening movie. Then Star trek, he was a huge science fiction fan. Grew up with a lot of Elvis and Johnny Cash,

The only good thing about TNG's second season was Pulaski--a far better doctor character than Crusher. Yeah, yeah, Pulaski was initially designed to be McCoy to Data's Spock, but I found her to be the kind of forceful doctor / senior officer a milquetoast crew like that would need. Best of all, she was not afraid to challenge / stick it to Picard, something TNG desperately needed going forward, but that kind of personality left the series with Pulaski's departure.

As TOS proves, it's possible to have sparks fly within a happy family. Pulaski was a step in that direction. It's one reason I prefer VOY to TNG. Characters like the EMH or Seven are a little more prickly than Picard's Pals.

I feel like this post is on the borderline of reporting for slander and just being entirely wrong...
Well... Let's say that your average Amazing for a Doctor is 50. And for any given fan they are overrated by 10 to 20. Tenant has an actual amazing of 80. But he has a reported amazing of 160. This makes him wildly overrated.

This example was not to scale and was of course bigger on the inside.

(I took Tom Baker out of the average because he may be, if anything, UNDERrated.)

Oh, and did J. Jonah Jameson teach us nothing? In print it's LIBEL.

A fair point about the real mechanics of overrating - although I do think in modern parlance "overrated" does now mean "bad"

Hopefully you'll let me off for being English - our equivalents are "saying something and getting punched in the face" or "saying something and getting punched in the face later"

I think I'm being taken far too seriously on an obviously subjective subject.

It's not like "The Motion Picture Enterprise is the best Enterprise and also greatest fictional spaceship design of all time" which is a matter of undeniable fact.

(Again ^^^ Still not serious.)

No, I was just curious... How someone who's still so overwhelmingly popular after having been so for decades could be underrated.

You mean you were kidding? I genuinely mess up and can't see humour sometimes.

(Hey, I posted about the Enterprise. I'm trying, really!)

Well, in that regard Tom Baker is widely praised, sure. But really he's such a perfect synthesis of all the Doctors before and he's still casting a shadow on the show. He's also the only actor who decided for most of it "What could I possibly be doing that would be better than this?" I don't see how he could be more popular, but maybe he should be. :D

You know, like the TMP Enterprise.

It is undeniable. Nothing subjective about it.

Nope. Give me the TOS Enterprise over the TMP Enterprise.

And it's a three-way tie between the TOS Enterprise, the Enterprise-D, and the Defiant. ;)

SNW Enterprise is the best.

Obviously.
(Oh good! Someone made a meme of this!)

If that post were entirely wrong then McCoy would be my favourite Doctor and the New Adventures novels wouldn't have been what turned me into a Doctor Who fan, so your premise is intrinsically flawed :vulcan:

Nah, I just don't like him. Don't understand why he's rated as an actor at all. Everything he does has a "Look at me, LOOK AT MEEEE!" quality of a hyperactive child in a school play. He's easily my least favourite incarnation of the Doctor.
