What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

TNG Season 2 is a substantial improvement over Season 1, that's for sure. It gave us "Elementary, Dear Data," "The Royale," "The Emissary" and "Peak Performance" if nothing else and I'll defend Dr. Pulaski to this day. She was abrasive and essentially just a female Dr. McCoy retread but she worked, and Diana Muldaur gave the role her all. TNG had some awful episodes but let's be frank: they weren't ALL confined to just the freshman and sophomore seasons.

There were a few clunkers in the first two seasons, but at least things seemed new and exciting. The crappy episodes in the last two seasons just highlighted how creatively exhausted the production team was.

Beverly is awesome in many ways. So was Pulaski. Trek's not an either/or piece of entertainment. For example I love the Beatles but can still find solo tracks by the individual members just downright unlistenable and just because Joel was great on MST3K doesn't mean Mike sucks or vice versa.

You would get this
Why doesn't Star Trek have a Pulaski Day?
Pulaski. his sword held high
at Brandywine
(father of the American cavalry.)

Controversial: I think that Seasons 1-2 of TNG are it's best.

The only good thing about TNG's second season was Pulaski--a far better doctor character than Crusher. Yeah, yeah, Pulaski was initially designed to be McCoy to Data's Spock, but I found her to be the kind of forceful doctor / senior officer a milquetoast crew like that would need. Best of all, she was not afraid to challenge / stick it to Picard, something TNG desperately needed going forward, but that kind of personality left the series with Pulaski's departure.
