The Terry Matalas as Star Trek Showrunner Petition

To be blunt, even if Terry sticks the landing I would not give a show right away.

Variety makes Trek tick, not uniformity.

I totally agree, my feelings on NuTrek aside, I do like that theyve really diversified in style and tone from show to show. And this season of Picard is a really nice blend of the serialized, more modern character and emotion based storytelling of NuTrek mixed with the style and feel of the TOS movies and 90s Trek. Unique from the other shows on right now, and it would be a nice addition to the current blend if they made more! To keep up their mix of styles.

I think season 3 is better than the first two seasons, however I enjoyed the first 2 seasons. Season 2 was rougher with lazy writing choices I didn't agree with and things that didn't really make sense but I found enough good in it. I really don't find the storytelling in Picard season 3 very different from other new Trek shows. Even before seeing this thread, I have been wondering if it was just being on familiar ships and seeing familiar characters that had people singing such high praises. Again, I'm agreeing that the season is good and perhaps the best 2017+ Trek season so far..i'm just not seeing the difference in quality between prior new Trek shows being garbage that some people think, and this season being one of the best Trek seasons ever. I think there IS a difference in quality, but it's not that wide to me.

Personally, Terry hanging out with the "bros" on those youtube channels that have been insulting fans and his new colleagues for years and have spouted sexist comments has left a bad taste in my mouth so I will not be signing the petition.

The people running SNW should be in charge of everything for the foreseeable future. Including the goddamn movies.

Period, full stop.
Have you seen THE MAGICIANS? I haven't, but it would be interesting to hear from a Henry Alonso Myers as a showrunner fan how they approached seasons, did they stick the landing?

Like I said, you should take a break. You're lashing out now, insulting people left and right.

Lol no. You're the one who addressed me personally there.

And yet, you're the one who also misread what I wrote, and complained about it erroneously.

Since Terry did S2 of picard, and how horrendous that was, and how I do like this season, but its basically his Tos movie fantasy come true.
So, IMHO, no, not main show runner, but sure, give him another series to run, maybe a potential Titan series. Or given his love of tos movies, give him a series set at the begining of the 24th century during the lost era between St6 and Tng. That'll give him the monster maroons, and ship designs he likes.

It's a bit rich to argue numbers for a particular perspective from a newly-created account focused specifically on shilling Matalas' work. If the season was indeed so strong, there are plenty of existing accounts here to shout its praises and call for him to stay on.

Winning over some loud social media users says zero about wider appeal, and there's nothing to suggest this season is any more popular in terms of viewership than previous seasons despite the intended big draw of the TNG reunion.

So TrekBBS is a more effective metric of 'wider-appeal' than social media?

:guffaw:

Indeed. Much of the petition leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and the reactions and laughing at fans with concerns does little to help impress upon me the accepting atmosphere of this new vision of Trek.
