Thought I'd post the link here, if anyone is up for signing;

Nearly 6000 so far.

If there is going to be a future Trek series that builds off of what Picard S3 will set up, it needs fan and audience support.

Currently, there are no plans for one, and the viewership numbers for Pic S3 may not be on the level. Fan appreciation for this season may make the difference.

Quoting something from the petition:
Terry Matalas, a true Star Trek veteran, holds the key to rekindling the spirit of Gene Roddenbury's vision.
I love Picard Season 3, it's possibly one of my favorite seasons of Star Trek, but it's NOT Gene Roddenberry's vision. This is closer to Harve Bennett and Nick Meyer. It's more evocative of the TOS Movies than TNG as the TV series Gene Roddenberry created in 1986-1987.

Was thinking that yesterday. As good as this season is shaping up, Gene would still have hated and vetoed it for numerous reasons, not least the bountiful interpersonal conflict.

I find it funny how Terry is being held as some Trek messiah by elements of the fandom when PIC season three has far more in common stylistically and content wise with Discovery than TNG.

I will wait a few more episodes before signing this, I would hate to sign it only for Terry to kill Seven off in the last episode.

Such high reverence for one man is never a good idea. If Kurtzman and the other higher ups think he's the next Favreau/Filoni and want him to do more Trek, they'll hire him. But still, one badly written episode, or if he tries to do something beyond a Nicholas Meyer homage, I have a feeling these petitioners will start treating Matalas like the anti-christ versus Trek's savior.

Anytime someone brings up "Gene's vision," I can't help but roll my eyes. Gene's vision, first and foremost, was to make as much money as absolutely possible.
I was going to say much the same thing. Any talk of "Roddenberry's vision" - which didn't even exist until he invented it decades after the fact - is an automatic turn-off for me. Which ties into this:
I don't like this idolization thing.
Indeed. And for someone who makes a TV show. No, thanks.
