Most people who like seasons 1 and 2 seem to like season 3 just fine. I just don’t think there’s much difference in quality between the seasons.

Every writer in Season 3 also worked on Season 2 except for Sean Tretta. Season 3 is still using the 10 Forward bar.

Season one was pretty good up until the last three episodes.
Season two was an entertaining idea that, for various reasons, wasn’t great in execution.
Season three, so far (with the exception of episode one which was a nostalgia fest of pathetic attempts at Easter eggs) has been pretty damned good.

Seven of Nine didn't even go to the Academy and she is already first officer. The chain of command in Starfleet isn't what it use to be. Plus right now he called himself a independent contracter or something like that meaning he might no longer be in Starfleet but just working with Starfleet which would put him I think in a position akin to KIra and Odo on DS9 and how they were woven into Starfleet chain of command rules.
