Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

I do think there is one thing we can all agree on. The LCARS. I'm loving it. It looks fantastic and it's everywhere. I missed it. I was tired of the stupid air panels we are seeing on Discovery and the first two seasons of Picard. Finally back to the beautiful shiny touch panels.
And FYI if the lighting where any brighter, with all those glass screens you wouldn't see said LCARS graphics. You'd see a lot of reflected light though off those panels.

They don't have to have blinding light on the bridge shining towards the lcars. We could easily see the lcars on tng. The lighting still stinks om picard but the lcars look great.

Another layer to this is that a lot of the animated LCARS are rear-projected and would get washed out in direct light.

ARCHER: Clap louder. That's an order.
PHLOX: I thought it was a fine speech.
TRAVIS: Just missing a few names.
REED: You'd think this was all his idea.
HOSHI: It's not about who gets credit.
TUCKER: He could've at least mentioned Enterprise. Who does he think got the Andorians and Tellarites talking?
T'POL: I'm sure history will reflect our contribution.
TUCKER: Not if he's writing it.

I'm going to say this now, just to get this out of the way, and I don't know where else to put it, so I'll put it here. If Terry wanted people to vouch for his Star Trek, he should've gone to Rick Berman and have him say, "We're very pleased."

That would've personally horrified me and gotten the other camp really excited. So, I'm glad he didn't do this, but still...

One thing that I found quite frustrating is that Picard as a show didn’t frame the larger galactic political landscape of the 25th century. We know about the collapse of the Romulan Empire and the rise of the Romulan Free State, but are they now friend or foe? Who is the new adversary of the Federation now? With Klingons and Romulans no longer a threat? They never really say in Season 1, and never covered much of the real 25th century in Season 2. I guess if there is any new threat, it would not be Picard that has to face them. I guess you can argue that way. But who is the thorn on Starfleet’s side in the early 25th century? Space pirates (again?)

Mike Okuda vouched for his Trek, which has the positives without the baggage.
