It served to give background for the audience (who are all Trek Triva nerds and imparting new information to Raffi.
I don't think it was literally right after Nemesis ended, as Beverly mentioned several events that took place after Nemesis. In that time Wesley obviously left and became a Traveler, as seen in season 2 of Picard.
If the Changeling was trying to kill Jack, he'd be dead. When he escaped, Seven was already calling Jack on the communicator, the Changeling would've known she'd get there seconds later and that leaving him for dead wouldn't actually kill him (probably).
Not really in a bind at all. I think when most people dont like something and dont like a show they stop watching *and* stop talking about it all the time. There are so many shows I started watching and stopped because I didn't like them. It wasn't hard to stop watching *and* not participate in forums just to say why I didn't like the show over and over.
The major problem is that Wesley isn't being a good son and going back to see if his mom is ok.
He should visit his mom more often.
All that power to manipulate Time/Space, and he can't be bothered to pop back and visit his Mom?
I don't remember when I stopped but I also didn't finish Enterprise's first season. I didn't continue to check out the forums to criticize the show after I had checked out because I'd prefer to spend time on things I *do* like.
I don't even remember the Changelings being on Discovery! Shows how much I was paying attention!
About 6 or 7 years ago I started watching Enterprise in the background at work. I had given up in the second season in its original run.
Boy howdy was it boring. Between season 2 of Enterprise and Nemesis 2002 was the absolute nadir of Trek.
I finished the series but, like I said, it was only because I had it on in the background doing work.
I disagree. The way they did it was fine. If René Auberjonois was still alive, and they could have arranged it, a flashback would have been a nice nod; but given the situation and the overall story, Worf making mention of 'A man of honor' who passed on the needed information was fine.
I would honestly believe that part of his job requires cutting ties with your past life so not to let your person feelings about loved ones (or those that you hate), influence your actions.
Now saying that I would certainly hope that Wesley when afforded this opportunity had the ability to let his mother know this was happening and that he wouldn't be seeing her again (little comfort, but still better then a child leaving without even telling you about it).
And if it happened after Nemesis but before Beverly and Jean Luc's final hookup, then I would assume Beverly would have talked to Jean Luc about it, so that he would understand the reference.
OF course for all we know he does see her on rare occasions, and her reference is that for the bulk of his time he is not in a time or location that she could ever interact with him if she needed or wanted to.
It was a very short scene in an underworld pub in S4x8 "All In". The Changeling started off as a humanoid, fuzzed down into the fastest tribble in the universe (no liquid) and then its shapeshifting abilities were "disrupted" by Tarka's little toy. The face very much resembled Odo's look. It seemed a generally unnecessary scene, to my recollection, other than demonstrating what a techie badass Tarka was to impress everyone in the bar. In any case, the Founders definitely lived on into the 32nd, skulking about in the seedy underworlds of the Alpha & Beta quadrants. How the mighty have fallen...

We know for a fact that by the 29th century that "Temporal Communicators" exist.
And Wesley, the Time/Space traveling boy genius that he is; can't invent or get a hold of "Temporal Communicators" with a set to give to his mother to keep in contact?
Come on, you know he should've done something like that.
This way, his mom can reach him, no matter what time period he pops into.
And if Wesley is crossing Dimensions & Timelines, he shold make a communicator that can breach those barriers and communicate.
Holy crap was Beverly out of line. She acted like Picard's lifestyle was fresh news - uhh, where was she the last twenty-five years? Picard took it almost too easy on her. Gotta say, I'm kind of hating Crusher's character at this point. And did she say they had previously broken up five times? That's healthy, let me tell ya.
This was.. somewhat good? What? On PIC!?
I mean it still is ALL CAPS DRAMA ALL THE TIME, and the plot is veeeeery fan-wanky: Every single plot point kind of depends on the fact that you already know all of Trek before this and are already a fan of all of it. There's nothing really new, only variations on past themes.
But still - I absolutely love the new Worf, the character drama this week was pretty solid. And most importantly, it really feels like the quality is going up, and the showrunners really have a plan this time.
After the series premiere, when everything was still so full of potential, this is certainly the best PIC episode so far.

I also don't particularly care for the whole "hate watching" thing. Hate watching is what those peple whoe complain about Disco having brown and queer people do. And, frankly, I find the insuation that I'm like them to be annoying at best. Offensive and insuliting at worst.
As to why I'm still watching. Well, I still really enjoy SNW, LD, and Prodigy. So I'm paying for P+, may as well get my $ out of it. And it's not like 10 hours out of every 12-18 month period is a huge time investment.

Didn't Wesley say something along the lines of having once been known as Wesley Crusher? I think he has had a disconnect and probably is not concerned about the idea of letting Beverly reach him. Which is sad, and as someone who misses his mom dearly, maddening, but to whatever extent Wesley is in her life, for Beverly it is not enough.
