Things we only realized later about DS9

One thing I realised a little later on was how similar Tosk was to the Jem 'Hadar soldiers, and considering that they both came from the Gamma Quadrant why as far as I know was nothing was ever said to confirm or deny the similarities?
Unless it was and I missed it or it was covered in one of the many DS9 novels out there? :sigh:

Maybe a single existing species was the ground note for both the Jem'Hadar and the Tosk. Maybe they have a genome that's easy to manipulate.

I believe that was the intention, yes. The Hunters were to have been the designated navigators/trackers of the Dominion (the Jem'Hadar that takes the helm of the Defiant in "Broken Link" was supposed to be a Hunter), with the Tosk being genetically engineered by the Founders as a gift to the Hunters.

(The Tosk and Jem'Hadar, btw, were created from the same 'original' race.)

Don't know why they dropped all that, though.

How bad season 1 was.

I was so happy there were more Trek shows coming and several standout episodes were SO good, I kind of gave it pass.

In retrospect, it's the worst franchise first season ever...Yes, worse than TNG!

I only later realised all those Vedeks grabbing ears without asking their owners permission to feel for a non-existent 'pagh' should have been prosecuted for bodily harassment.

(Just joking of course, but I do think that they would have shown that slightly differently, if DS9 were produced in this day and age).

Except the pagh in question did, in fact, exist.

What 'evidence' (in-universe of course) does DS9 offer for that? From the top of my head, I can't recall anything that would be proof for an objective existence of the pagh the way Trek seems to do for a Vulcan katra. But you've got me curious.

Somehow Croden did give Odo correct information in "Vortex" about Changelings. "On Rakhar, we tell stories about changelings. I thought they were myths until I met you." Somehow legends about the Founders being persecuted and living in the Omarion Nebula got to Rakhar.
