I assume Laris is dogsitter extraordinaire.

Poor “Number One”, after being present in early promotion materials it seems he’s been blacklisted for not behaving very well on set.
As a cat lover myself, Spiner and Frakes should take back everything bad they ever said about the cats playing Spot and Grudge.

Meanwhile, we're two eps in and nobody is talking about the real issue: what happened to Picard's dog? :)
Number One fatally mauled Zhaban on a walk and Zhaban's instinctive Tal Shiar training caused Zhaban to kill Number One in turn. There's a reason Laris and Picard don't talk about this horrific event much.

Again, I see things differently. Picard ALWAYS had the authority. Nowhere was it stated that Picard lacked the authority and now suddenly he has it. Shaw clearly thinks Picard and Riker are a bunch of old retired "cowboys" and he did not like them coming onboard. He makes that clear in the dinner scene in ep 1 but that did not mean that Picard lacked the authority. In ep 1, Picard could have ordered Shaw to go to the Ryton system and Shaw might have protested but he would have obeyed. Picard just chose not to use his authority. He asked Shaw instead of ordering him and so Shaw said no.

Indeed. To quote both Picard and Shaw, he finally "stood up".

Its almost like they are giving us information piece by piece and week by week.
Ridiculous! They expect us to wait a week? Who has that kind of time?!?
Her scenes ground the franchise. I don’t think trek has ever tackled drug addiction like this before. It can be relatable to those who have gone through it before
Indeed. Apologies to those who think all ills should be cured but Trek handling this is one of its better efforts.

Amanda Plummer did this odd "sneeze" delivery of one line.

"There is a sizable bounty on his head. And we are taking...(sneeze) him."

I know she's supposed to be overly dramatic, but I'm wondering that that's more than an actor's choice. Some sort of emotional or physical issue which will factor in.

Hell, after 36 years I still want to know how the staunch Frenchman, Jean-Luc Picard, who extolled the colors of the French flag in TNG S1 The Last Outpost, has the thick British accent, and loves Earl Gray tea. ;)

Obviously because Britain takes back its rightful Angevin Lands after WW3

I thought it was covered a while ago that they were like French Hugenot or something and so left at one point to England (as many French did) only to later return and wind up with branch families in both nations?

Really? Please relate to me the title of the TNG TV series episode where all that information is imparted to the audience.;)

I got it wrong, but it's covered in the Picard Season 2 Episode Watcher. They would flee during WW2 to England and not return to the Chateaux until some time in the 2040s which gave them a distinctly English bent to them.

You clearly care, but you shouldn't. Because this is a review thread and I'm well within my right to be critical of something that doesn't work thus far.

Even within a season I'm admittedly biased towards enjoying (S3). Objectively, my '7' is a fair rating.

The good news is, like I said earlier, those who have seen the full 10 episodes on YT assure us that it will pay off and ultimately work by the end. So I await the episodes ahead.
I do care…about gatekeeping attitudes. About your personal assessment of one scene or episode? Not one whit. And nowhere did I express an opinion on your rating of “7” (it happens to equal my own).

I have never begrudged anyone’s individual liking or disliking of any form of entertainment, for the same reason I expect my own individual views on entertainment to be seen as just that—individual. I’ve always viewed fan base gatekeeping, explicit or implied, as, at best, inconsiderate to others.

Fair enough. ( I've forgotten a lot of Picard Season 2, but yeah I recall James Callis played his father, and yeah he wasn't using a French accent either.)

Sneed's parlor must have had terrific air filtering to neutralize the odor of a rotting Romulan head. Still should have spared no expense in the aforementioned areas.
