Spoilers Starship Design in Star Trek: Picard

I figured out what the Shrike reminds me of ...

The mercenary ship from "GAMBIT"

I asked the same question of Bill Krause - Titan-A / Shang designer. He said that it was not the original Titan space frame. That made the most sense to me especially after the Dominion War. It would make sense to pull mothballed space frames out and refit the heck out of them. Who knows. Sean - designer or Riker's Titan - did an illustration flipping the nacelles to show how it was feasible to reuse parts of the space frame from Riker's Titan.

Yeah the Titan is much larger than the Shang so there can’t be any direct reuse there.

Looking the the Luna and the Neo-Constitution side-by-side, I’m actually quite comfortable with the idea that large parts of the internal structure were reused. Basically if you bolted on new saucer panels, pylons and nacelles, you are there.

The new space dock might be called Probert Station. Back left LCARS screen

Ironic, since if I remember / believe the lore he lobbied the hardest for Space Dock not to be used in 11001001. Or at least that it was being used incorrectly. That may have been one of the nails in the coffin of his Star Trek career.

I love how Dave Blass replied "No" when asked if it was the Federation class.

Guess the official line is that it's a completely different, legally distinct, original design of three-nacelles and that any similarities with the work of F. Joseph are entirely coincidental!

BS. It's not just a three nacelled ship. It matches the Federation class in every detail.

Wow!
I didn't notice it at first but it appears to have the aft-facing deflector in place of the shuttlebay, and the saucer has a steeper rise compared to the flatter Constitution class.

No shit, Tomalak was being sarcastic.

I have a feeling the Federation was put there without anyone realizing that shit we don’t own this design. So Dave has to deny it for legal reasons
I wasn't calling BS of Tomalak. I was calling BS on the original tweet.

There were three of them in the well lit picture, though only one was visible in the episode IIRC.

I mean that doesn't really change what I said.

Dave replied 'No' to someone asking if it was the Dreadnaught to the Terry tweet even though they clearly are, so he has to be saying that for some reason. I'm just speculating based on what we know about the rights to the Tech Manual designs.

Agreed on the reason they aren't admitting anything. But you said "I have a feeling the Federation was put there", but they put at least 3 of them there, so somebody must have been asleep on the job for one to make it on-screen.

I loved seeing it. The easter eggs on this show so far have been great.

No Connies, no TMP refits, no NX class (which is what they're celebrating, right?) but three (THREE) of the ship that Roddenberry seemed to go out of his way to ensure never existed?!?

I don't understand these people.
