And interesting to notice that Jack doesn't seem familiar with Picard and Riker at all. He didn't recognize them.

I think it was a Red Herring. To throw audiences off to thinking it is Jack and Bev's son (even with the name Jack Jr), despite Picard being the father.

No spoilers, just a guess. I have no idea how it will play out. I've only heard this reveal might be controversial, but is performed incredibly well.
