Did anyone else find the Phaser shotgun thing at the start a little silly? Especially as there was apparently no way to reload the damn thing to the point Crusher had to grab another one?

I liked it, but probably less than any new live action modern Trek.

It feels as though they have abandoned S1 and S2.

Rios, Jurati, Elnor, just dumped on the curb.

Those were great characters.

The music notes were more like nostalgia hammers.

I didn't subscribe to p+ to watch star trek's greatest hits.

I'm looking forward to seeing new star trek, and I guess that means I'll be looking forward to discovery S5

Rios is left in the 21st Century with the Insta-Familia, so can't exactly come back.

Jurati is now in charge of the "Kinder, Friendlier" Borg (Who still apparently eradicate your individuality) which... yeah.

Elnor's the only one apparently missing from this lineup and was useless in Season 1, and dead for most of Season 2. So mostly pointless and had the depth of a puddle. A Romulan Samurai... because those were a thing for the Romulans.

Raffi and Seven were the only ones worth bringing back as they had some actual plot.

Anyone notice the villain ship's deflector dish area looks suspiciously like the one from the Enterprise D engineering hull?

I saw that right away. The ship is probably an amalgam of other ships.

I also noticed that every time some one questioned Picard about why Bev ghosted everyone, he actually avoids answering. He may have known she was pregnant but not necessarily know it was his.

Yes and the phaser machine guns.

Also I know Trek is flimsy on the science but shouldn't the ship landed on the hull of Crushers ship have warped away with them. Or at least on more than just float off like a swatted bug.

I want to change my vote. 7 to … 4.

Last night, I was like, Meh, it was ok.

Now: time to face facts.

The emperor has no clothes. This is just shite.

Dark, recycled trope after trope. A poster child for a culture in decay that can’t do new things.

DSC S1 is looking better and better, since it was kinda tryin to be new. (Except SPOCK’s SISTER!)

Where to start?

The end. Ooooh, a big ship. WITH PINCERS!! Bad vampire voice: “Ooooh, dats scahry!” Come on, people. It works so well in the original fx of Corbomite, PLUS it was a truly alien contraption. Weird, glowing ping pong balls with a baby inside. Oh well, pincers in space are scary. I, myself wouldn’t have known it was eeeevil without those pincers. Next.

A BIG HUGE DESTRUCTION happens. Gosh, they can do fx! What was it? A building on a planet. Why do I care? Did I see one human? Was there someone there I cared about? Just rando huge kaboom I’’ve seen a million times.

AND . . . It’s the same damn plot this franchise keeps using. Mystery big bad destructo thing that must be figured out and stopped.

I think I’m done with this show already. Waitin for more PRO.

Oh, and then Wil squeeing all over himself, and everybody proud they turned Bev into DieHard Bev. Pew pew pew. Alien. I saw Alien in like, 1978? But we all know it is stultifying for women to be cast in the caregiver role! Except when we have established her character for years. It’s ok to be a mom and a caregiver, and we now have many female roles that are fighters (Michael, Fenris 7, Raffi). But we are all badasses now.

“But any starfleet person is trained in everything. And it was so kewl she was a BADASS.” I’m so tired of “badass = good.” I’m tired of our whole shitty culture. Trek is the only modern media I watch and so much of it is just … not … that good.

Beverly’s new son (Jack jr?), hm?
Can we hope for another Wil Wheaton appearance now?
I wouldn’t expect one after his cameo last season, but now he kind of has a reason to appear?
I’m sure he is thrilled to have a little baby brother.
(Whereas Jack surely has no inferiority complex at all about his older brother boy wonder ascending to another plane of existence running a space time protection agency for the universe.)

That was... fine. Certainly not the hour-long Trekgasm the paid twitter shills promised me, though:lol: There's been FAR better Trek in the last year, let alone the last 20 or 25!

Picard's son has a British accent even though he was raised far from Jean-Luc. Because otherwise nobody will understand they're related.

Very curious how they're going to justify Beverly cutting off everyone to have Picard's secret child. I seriously doubt they can.

So Beverly's in Section 31 now? And Raffi too? Ooof.

The Red Lady is Martha Kent, as everyone and anyone knows.

The feminine computer voice is Worf, isn't it? I spotted Klingon glyphs for a millisecond or three when the word "warrior" was mentioned.

Was there a music budget for this season? Literally everything was recycled from 80's and 90's Trek movies.

There certainly wasn't a lighting budget.

The credits is literally LCARS graphics scrolling:guffaw:

I was thinking about that this morning. I enjoyed the episode - it was really good BUT I've seen a lot of viewers say its the first time Trek has been back since 2005. That's their opinion and that's fine but other than the characters and the aesthetic of it, it doesn't seem a whole lot different than some of the Trek we've gotten since Discovery started. The second SNW with the comet is one that comes to mind as a good solid Trek episode.

I'm reckoning those who got early access found it far more enjoyable watching 6 episodes back to back, which would probably suit this show better given its heavily serialised natural. Because we're drip fed it each week, it ends up being a completely different experience and any weaknesses that might have been given a free pass as part of a 6 hour "movie" are highlighted more watching it an hour at a time.
