Didn’t they say that Denise Crosby was appearing?
No. Terry only said there would be a nod to Tasha Yar. Denise seems to know what it is.

I still think it will just be Data’s hologram of her. Which they don’t need Denise physically for, CBS should still have the negatives for that hologram, they had them for TNG-R. My best bet, it will be either at the fleet museum or with Soong’s things at the Daystrom station.

Denise would probably know as they’d need to ask permission to use archive footage of her.

8/10 for me. It was a strong opener but so was ep1 & 2 of season 2. So we’ll see.

I kinda love that Picard/Beverly did get together but that it happened off screen. Drive the shippers nuts.

I really hope Bev’s other son isn’t Picards but the result of some random one night stand on Risa or something.

Worf is totally gonna be Raffi’s handler right.

I didn’t mind that they were gonna have Shaw be a jerk. But the kind of jerk he was felt unrealistic for a strait laced Starfleet Captain. I think it was the unprofessionalism. I mean, Jellico was a jerk but not like that. I do however don’t think it’s a big deal that he wants Seven to go by Anika Hansen…especially if that’s the name she joined Starfleet under.

Picards public persona must be very different that what he was actually like.

very happy to see the 1701-A wasn’t just scrapped after Khitomer.

I like old fart Riker making old fart jokes too.

I'm actually hoping he's not. I'd like to see a different swerve here. I can't imagine Beverly denying Picard knowledge of the existence of a son she conceived with him.

She had a three day ##ckathon with Will Riker in season four's the Host.

So she would have seen Odan again often.

She prefers Seven of Nine, so I doubt it. He also seems to have a problem with Ex-Borg.

We see Worf fighting her on this planet on one of the trailers, so probably.

I actually liked Shaw wasn't fawning over Picard and Riker like most Starfleet personnel do. In fact, if you think about it, he has every right to be suspicious of two retired officers making an unscheduled stop then trying to change course. Sure, Picard was a decorated officer and statesman in the Enterprise-D days, but look at the things that happened when Picard and Riker teamed up since then (and some of Picard's solo outings)

1. Lost the Enterprise-D to a 20-year old Klingon Bird of Prey
2. Disobeyed orders and trashed the Enterprise-E, lost probably 3/4 of the crew to the Borg (though Picard did save Earth, so that'd probably score him some brownie points)
3. Disobeyed orders, trashed the Enterprise-E, led an armed rebellion against a Federation admiral
4. Trashed the Enterprise-E
5. Botched up the evacuation of Romulus and Remus, the Jellyfish is lost (most likely trashed)
6. Lost La Sirena

Shaw probably didn't want to oversee ANOTHER lengthy refit of the Titan-A because of whatever shenanigans Picard and Riker had in mind that'd more than likely fuck up his ship

He SHOULD fawn over them because he and the Titan wouldn't even be around without them. He wouldn't even have been born.

Out of those infractions you listed, Picard and Riker saved:

1. The entire Federation and the timeline
2. All organic life in the galaxy
3. Earth a few times...

So yeah he should show some respect and eat his food color dyed chicken fried steak in silence.

I’d bet he sees “Seven of Nine” as more a nickname. In any case it doesn’t bother me.

my guess is Raffi relapses/falls off the wagon after not being able to stop the attack and Worf has to go bring her in.

I knew that First Contact vibe the score was giving me at one point would come to fruition, punctuating the episode with a full-on rendition of that movie intro, just beautiful... probably in the top 5 of Trek scores in my book. The Red Lady thread of the episode was a little lacking, and hopefully it's not just a red herring, but although the Raffi story line felt forced, the production values and staging were magnificent. Stiff hands and bad knees, indeed--Riker still has the quips, and that elbow to the chops was vintage... Loved Crusher crushing it versus the baddies at the start of the episode, and the son reveal at the end was nicely done. The bad guy ship was a little derivative and the musical cues hokey and clumsy, but I look forward to Amanda Plummer chewing the scenery in upcoming episodes... just had to give this a ten for enjoyability... :)
