Every Star Trek movie I've seen in theaters has been magical, a transformative experience. The first one I got to see in theaters was Nemesis, and I loved it while I was watching it in theaters. Sure, later, when I started picking it apart I'd say "hey, this is kind of bad," but in theaters? It was wild, fun, and an adventure to share with the other 4 people in the theater, two of which were my friends. The thing is, there's different types of movies, some designed for polar opposite purposes. There are some movies I think are masterpieces, which I'd never want to see in a theater, as it's a very personal experience, & then there's some that don't even work on me unless I saw it in a theater, with a group
That said, to this day, "Enterprising Young Men" from Star Trek (2009) *still* raises the hair on my arms and back of my neck, partially because of how awesome that scene was, but also because I still *remember* that experience, and got to experience Michael Giacchino's magnificent score in that huge theater with the absurdly powerful sound coming from all directions.
