Hi Peeps,
I just about the DSN DVD's, but the numbers for the series are all over the place?

Do you know why they have done this... someone said that this to do with the order these were produced in or something?

Like the first episode is 201 or 207 or something... and then these episodes are not even in a kind of numerical order, so the next was in the 400s and the next might be less or something?

Somewhat tired, while I'm writing this... so any 'insights' please?

Disregard the production numbers. Just watch them in the order listed on the disc art and/or DVD sleeve, depending on what release you have. (If you have a release that somehow omits both, the ep listing on IMDb or Wikipedia or Memory Alpha will help you out. The Great Link.)

There's a piece spontaneity, I've just watched the episode with Tosk.

Thanks, but I still don't why they would do this, I suppose it's a "geek thing" but they shouldn't force such things on viewers?

Difference of opinion between fans... some would like to use production date, some air date.

Would be just 'easier' if they made it as "simple" as possible, and start with "call me old fashioned" but bloody 'ell the number 1 !

I wonder if there is another ordering for the episodes outside of airdate and production?

Hollywood frequently shoots things out of order, be it in the course of a whole series or even the episode. DS9 really needs you to watch it in broadcast order as each episode is a connected piece to the next.

Maybe a set isn't ready in time, or an actor or actress is finishing out another contract before they can start this project and the producers etc really want/need this thesbian to tie the whole show together.

Who knows. Maybe airdate in some other country?
Stardate order. :shifty:
I'm sure somebody has made a list online of the stardates given in each episode.

Unfortunately there are a few episodes with NO stardates so there would always be controversy about how to resolve them.

I think I checked stardates for all the series and shows. The TOS dates are the best with many being changed around although like airdate order this upsets the continuity or flow of the series with odd hairstyles and the like.
TNG dates are atrocious with some having episodes happen before others were references to earlier shows haven't actually happened yet!!!
DS9 and Voyager I think like season 2 of TNG were all 'stardated' as such so outside of one or two episodes you can't really change much at all!

I'm finding it easier now the DS9 DVD order... still why they started off at something like 404?

Still seems daft!

The pilot is usually a weird number because they are not sure if the series will get picked up when it is produced in most cases. From then on, they mostly go in sequence for DS9 ("A Man Alone" and "Past Prologue" were switched for airing, and so were "Badda-Bing, Badda-Bang" and "Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges").

Know what, gunna ask, has someone screwed up the order of your DVD? I had this once with my copy of an anime where the whole order was screwed up, so I had to watch episode 1, then 4, then 9 etc to get the story in the right order.

No the order on the DVD is fine, the confusion was because they put the production numbers on there without explanation.

I remember some confusion with the Return To The Planet of The Apes DVD set as apparently we were told the ordering was all wrong. But it was good when watched and later on it seemed that it was the tv stations in the seventies that had scuppered up the ordering somehow instead!!!
