Do you all think it's possible the parasites from Conspiracy are returning (I've seen speculation about it in the past)? Beverly saying not to trust anyone, Raffi putting something in her eyes (to protect her?), federation personnel firing on each other in the trailer.
That would make the "Trust no one" line somewhat palatable.

You know who I realized we haven't seen any pictures of? Kestra from Season one of PIC.
With Riker and Troi back in active service, doesn't she have to be...somewhere in the plot? I mean, I think she's still a child at this point, even with the time skips. Lulu Wilson is still 17, and I don't think Kesta is much different in terms of age.
I guess they could just say she's off at Starfleet Academy, but she made such a big impression in Season 1 that I hope she at least has a cameo here...though I understand why mom & dad wouldn't want her to tag along this time.

I was also thinking about Kestra (especially with speculation that Troi or (Will) Riker could die), but then Picard dropped practically all its cast from S1, so she may not be back or even not get mentioned. I would have liked Soji and Rios to be there, too.
I don't see any way they don't mention Kestra at least in passing if one or both of the Rikers plan to make a heroic sacrifice/go out in a blaze of glory. I mean, you can't really argue they have "nothing to live for" - plus having a teen daughter kinda ups the personal stakes for them and means there is more poignancy to whatever happens.
Of course, it doesn't mean she'll actually be seen, but ignoring her just seems like bad writing.

A Paramount+ and Showtime merger is going ahead.

They don't need anything.
They will need some high budget and big name prestige shows in which to entice an audience to their premium service. Just like when UPN launched with Voyager.

yeah, depending on the length of the time jumps she could be old enough to be a cadet at Starfleet Academy. Stay in the family business.
