Car Manufacturer Inspired Trek Ship …

MisterD

Commander
Red Shirt
OK so I choosed Alfa Romeo because they are relatively consistent with their design language. They have certain features you find in a lot of Alfas of all eras.
  • The grill (shield)
  • headlights are often in pairs or trios. Often arranged in a line with the grill horizontally.
  • sporty
  • red
  • sleek and (except from a very boxy phase) curvy
The second step was to figure out what to do with this information. First I thought of a "normal" federation ship. But I was not sure if I was able to come up with something that would get the point across. Same goes for my second thought, to make a d'deridex or bird of prey.

So I decidet to go with the easyest choice, making a shuttle...But everything I made looked like a van or a train. The solution was to put the engine behind the cabin and move it up so the nacelles had line of sight and, more important, the door/air lock could stay in the back.

Fortunately being a civillian ship there was no need for plating or industrial looking details. A nice red car paint would do it.

So thats it.

That's a cool design! Looks a bit Syd Mead-ish.

Go to "Edit Title" under "Thread Tools" at the top of the thread.

Very inspired modeling on this! I could totally see that as a shuttle of the week on one of the newer shows.

Fixed that for you. :)

I have no idea what the el baz is. (google was not able to help..) But now I know that Paul Reiser at least played two characters with poor decision making, because there is no more efficient way to perfectly discribe a Volvo than "boxy but good".

If Jay and Silent Bob ever wind up in ST…it should be in that thing—which they smash and we never see it again.
