Spoilers Were 3D CG Model assets repurposed ?

Prodigy being a 3D CG animated series does anyone know if "Star Trek Prodigy: Supernova" game developer repurposed any CG model assets from Prodigy?
Does anyone know if any of the Paramount owned intellectual property CG assets were brought over and used in the Prodigy series?
I wonder how much money they saved in season 2 of this series already having the main USS Protostar sets in CG models of decks like the bridge.

I doubt they would have used the original models in Supernova, they would have been too high quality, but Paramount probably gave them the show used models for reference, or high res images.

Star Trek Online's devs are given the actual show models, or high quality images of models for reference when doing their recreations.

Considering it looks like Season 2 won't have a Protostar, probably saved nothing.

Oh, there are still options. Not only is there a brand new one sitting in that hangar (and even though the "warrant officers in training" are clearly going on a much larger ship, that doesn't exclude they will end up using this vessel for a side mission or two, particularly if they go get Chakotay and don't want to risk a large vessel with plenty of trainees), the original Protostary prototype may still be around on Solum by the time they go retrieve Chakotay.

I can’t wait to see the new opening credits without the Protostar. As much as I loved that ship, I just *knew* that it had to be destroyed the moment that we found out that the Living Construct could not be removed from it. I wonder if they will have the new ‘hero ship’ in the title sequence instead of the Protostar? They would have to reveal the new ship in a pre credits opening scene like in older Star Trek episodes if so, they wouldn’t want to ruin the reveal by showing the ship in the credits before it is introduced on screen in the actual episode. The new ship reveal could be the ‘sting’ leading in to the new opening sequence. We could see the crew being shown the ship for the first time, being in awe of it’s beauty… then when we get the money shot it fades in to a beautiful new credits sequence with the new ship.

That would be cool. :mallory:

There are ways to use high quality models for 3D rendering in games. Mesh optimizations for one thing (which may require redoing the mapping, and of course lowering the resolution of model textures).

It usually saves you time redoing everything from scratch since the original stuff if already there... but in case the originals are of too high quality, then yeah, they'd be used as a reference for games.

These days however, you can effectively use a higher res model which would downscale depending on how close to the camera the object is.
Unreal 5.1 does this automatically.

As a side note... anyone know which 3D software Prodigy animators used to model and everything in?
I tried finding this info online, but alas...

I highly doubt the files from S1 wouldn't have been saved.
They'd have to recreate them all over again in case a need for them pops up again.
And besides, when making a 3D background, you can easily populate it with assets from stuff you did before.

Or a new opening sequence could avoid using a vessel alltogether? There may be more than one vessel involved during the season, so just showcasing the characters may be easier. I guess they could also keep the same sequence anyway.
