DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

Seems Gunn has posted images from Tom King's Superman: Up in the Sky and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow on his Instagram in the past couple of days. Both are among the all-time great graphic novels featuring Superfamily characters, IMO. I doubt Gunn would adapt them directly, but he could do far worse as sources of inspiration and influence.

People keep asking why WB won't just cancel the Flash movie. The answer given most often was about the budget being too high to cancel at this point. But there's another reason that hasn't been talked about, but should really have been obvious.

The licencing deals.

The Batwing's back! I hope the baddie doesn't have one pistol with an outrageously long barrel. And I hope Batty's learned how to shoot a stationary target.

Leslie Grace shared a look at what would have been the final costume at the end of the "Batgirl" movie.

The cowl looks a bit cheap IMO. It's also a bold choice to equip the hero with a hotdog. Defense against the condiment king?

Costumes always look worse in candid photos than properly lit on the stage. Looks like she's in sunlight, and I assume the costume was designed to look good at night. Or, she could be wearing a stunt cowl instead of the "hero" cowl meant for close-ups.

Allowing for that, I think it looks fairly good. Would've been nice to get to see it in the actual movie.

That's not bad. I would love to see what it would have liked with the movie lighting and the other post production tweaks they do to the picture.

It looks better than the previous images we saw, but it doesn't take away the feeling that this project was cheaping out on the production level. Granted, this is a candid shot unlike the other pictures which were actually intended for publicity so it doesn't really prove much. And none of this actually matters anymore, anyway. Unfortunately.

The design of the chest emblem is the best thing about the costume. As far as lighting goes, some stills from the production captured the costume in nighttime scenes, and from those few shots, the costume's appearance was not that much of an improvement over the photo posted here.

I saw this where someone on Reddit made the costume black-and-gold instead which seems a little easier on the eyes than the purple-and-yellow though maybe it's just more of what we've come to expect. It'd be interesting to see the purple-and-yellow as it would actually look in the final product with lighting and color grading applied.

Not trying to argue it should be black-and-gold, I just thought it was an interesting experiment

Black and gold--whether it was the original costume designed by Infantinio, or the Alex Ross version below:

...always worked as a standout look, and certainly looks better than a purple bodysuit.

Meh, too ordinary-looking.

I was struck when I realized some years back that Batman '66's Catwoman and Batgirl basically switched color schemes from the comics. In the comics, Catwoman wore a purple dress and cowl with a green cape and Batgirl wore a black costume and cowl with gold highlights. In the show, Catwoman wore a black costume and mask with gold highlights, and Batgirl wore a purple costume and cowl with a yellow cape.

"I bought all this purple fabric expecting to use it on Catwoman - who you didn't even let have a cape - and dammit Howie, I am not letting it all go to waste! Somebody's gonna wear it!!"

Amy Adams had played Rachel Dawes in Christian Bale's screen test for "Batman Begins"? Talk about a surprise.

I rewatched Thor: Love and Thunder yesterday, and a few of Christian Bale's scenes as Gorr got me thinking that I would love to see his take on The Joker.

We spend a lot of time arguing over the direction of the movies and such but I can't believe some of the shitty replies James Gunn gets for just tweeting "My heart is with @JeremyRenner". Helps put in perspective that at the end of the day these are just movies about guys running around in tights and we shouldn't get too caught up in all this.
