DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

Some of it is folks who feel repeatedly burned by DC and don't trust them ever to get it right at this point.

Some of it is vindictive wishful thinking by those who were attached to the DCEU and resent its getting round-filed.

Being in neither camp, I'm excited to see what Gunn and Safran come up with.

There might be a couple of nuances in between but overall I think you've nailed it.

Personally I'm Camp #1 with maybe a slight hint of Camp #2 because of the way they(whoever 'they' are) treated Cavill.

I'm not sure I'm in Camp #3(excited to see what will develop) but I am curious and open. Camp #4?

^ I think there's Camp #3 (curious about what will develop) and then some go to Camp #3a (excited to see what will develop) and some go to Camp #3b (who are sure it will be crap). There might even be Camp #3b+ (who are sure it will be crap and already have proof). :)

I thought that had already happened somewhere.

Though I have to admit I can't really envision putting that thing in a theater due to its length.

I loved the Snyderverse DC movies. "The Suicide Squad" didn't impress me one bit and I doubt I'm going to be a fan of the new direction of things. Is what it is.

Maybe we'll get the Ayer cut of the OG Suicide Squad one day, I'd be interested in seeing that.

I would like to see the Ayer cut, that movie had a distinct look and feel it seemed to be going for so it would be interesting to see it fully realized. I think with everything going on right now, from changing hands, presumably trying to establish themselves anew without Snyder, and all the cuts at HBO MAX, it seems like it's unlikely that this would happen.

I'd be shocked if the Ayer cut is as much better as he claims, but I'd like to see it out of curiousity

Agreed.

Time will tell. If the films are not simply the worst of the MCU-ized formulas / scripting / performances in DC trappings, that would be a hopeful sign.

Unless there's a mass call for a director's cut approaching that of ZSJL (and the financial benefits), I doubt WB+D will ever invest even another cent into such a production.

People keep asking why WB won't just cancel the Flash movie. The answer given most often was about the budget being too high to cancel at this point. But there's another reason that hasn't been talked about, but should really have been obvious.

The licencing deals.
