DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

Pattinson's Batman is step 1 (no need to fix what wasn't broke). This new Superman will be step 2. Then a Batman sequel, maybe introduce Robin. Then a new Wonder Woman, in WWII, with the Justice Society and post-credit scenes setting up the 'modern-day' Flash & Green Lantern. Then a new Aquaman. Finally, the Justice League - done RIGHT.

Yeah, it's following the MCU blueprint. So what? It WORKS.

..... oh, who the hell am I kidding...

Sorry for Cavill, but I'm sure he'll keep busy, regardless.

Actually, now we can start speculating about what "exciting possibilities to work together in the future" means. If the rumors are true, Gunn has made a similar deal with Momoa to switch to the role of Lobo. So, Cavill as Jor-El?! Bizarro? Ooh, maybe Dr. Will Magnus, I could totally see that.

Henry Cavill as Batman.

There goes The Rock's good will and any chance Warner Bros. Discovery might've had of working with him on anything ever again.

F$!k... Here I was so happy to have Henry back.. F÷/k...
If they weren't going to keep him why in the F did they have the cameo and announce another film? Must be the shortest comeback in history.. F!#kers...

Because they did all of that before Gunn and Safran took over, but then that raises the question of why they made the big Cavil announcement while they were probably working on the Gunn/Safran deal, and knew that this kind of thing was probably going to happen.
While I am disappointed to lose Cavil as Superman, I have complete faith in James Gunn that he knows what he's doing and will give us something awesome in the end.

While Gunn & Safran are in charge creatively, Zaslav still has final say. It's very possible that Gunn & Safran worked out two alternative plans, with one keeping Cavill as Superman and all the rest of the previous cast, and the other being a clean slate, depending on what Zaslav favored. And Zaslav then would have made the decision based on how Black Adam would be received.
Now, it might be unfair to judge public excitement for Cavill's Superman over that very short cameo, but it would fit in with how Zaslav appears to make his decisions.

Henry will not be back as Superman.

Well, this…sucks. A lot.

Mark up ANOTHER post credits scene that's not going anywhere

Just reboot it. These past 9 years since Man of Steel has been an utter waste of time and money.

I also feel like this will tarnish Shazam fury of the gods and "Aquaman 2" people will know any post credit or story development won't go anywhere. Why should the invest in something that's not going to continue?

A dozen or so people are shocked, the rest of the world saw which way the wind was blowing months ago.

When you want to build a better house, you unfortunately have to tear the old one down, despite the fond memories that may have come with it.

One needn’t to be shocked to experience disappointment. My waning interest in DC films was reinvigorated by the idea Cavill was returning to the role. Now…it’s not.

But if you saw the end of this universe, you knew not to get attached.

The fact they had to sneak Cavill into the movie without the consent of the studio was such a huge red flag on top of red flags leading up to the movie. His appearing one bonus time was nothing short of miraculous, since this universe crumbling was predicted immediately once the merger happened. There was no other way this was going to turn out.

Once they erased Keaton from everything, I checked out emotionally quite completely. Though still watched and will watch their output. The movies will always exist to be enjoyed, no reboot can ever change that. But they exist on their own, and not with any hope of things to come. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Just the way it is

I was so excited at the prospect of finally getting a MOS 2. Now it seems both Superman and Wonder Woman are out the door and headed for recasting. I never expected Affleck to come back but I was waiting for Superman.

Henry was great in the role and deserved better. I don't begrudge Gunn and Safran. They want a clean slate to do their own thing. Best of luck to them for that. At least this DC ship has a captain now.

Well, maybe this will cheer some of you up.

One of the upcoming straight-to-streaming animated DC films will be "Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham", which is based on an Elseworld tale co-written by Hellboy's Mike Mignola that re-imagines Batman as a Lovecraftian horror story.

As such, Jeffrey Combs just had to have a voice role in this movie, considering his history with both DC and Lovecraft. He will voice the film's version of Kirk Langstrom.
