The Peripheral

They sure have a lot of villain characters with the addition of this "Bob" guy. I found him more entertaining than Corbell.

Corbell may take an interest in 'Bob.'

If Corbell finds out Bob is trying to kill his cash cow, he might get involved to keep the Fisher family safe.

I like Corbell's wife though, she's fun.

Episode six was good, but kind of felt like it ended just as it was getting going. And there's only eight episodes this season! Are they close to the end of the book or will they carry its story over to a (theoretical) season two?

I haven't read the books. I would like to see a lot more as well.

It's a doo-dad, you arrogant piece of s#it.

It looks like there will be a season 2, if they want to tie up the new loose ends, caused by what I talk about in the spoiler.

The way I see the episode is:

1. A new stub is created by Flynne, a reboot as Conner calls it. The last scene of the old stub is Conner killing Flynne.

vlcsnap-2022-12-02-22h45m28s416.jpg

2. Now there is no reason for Cherise to blow up North Carolina using a nuke warhead, in an air force silo, in the old stub to kill Flynne in the only place Cherise knows where Flynne with the information, Cherise wants to keep from the Klept, used to reside.

3. The first scene with the new stub Flynne arrives to meet with MET Inspector Lowbeer. (This should ensure a season 2 as Flynne who resides in a new stub beyond the reach of Cherise works with Insp. Lowbeer to stop the illegal activities by the R.I. and the Klept.)

4. Between the first set of credits and the second set, we see a meeting between Lev Zubov and what appear to be his bosses in the Klept, telling him they have too much exposure with the Research Institute and he needs to end his ties with the spies he has in the R.I.

This is only IMHO, though I could be mistaken.

I'm going to have to go back and watch it again. I must have been distracted because I still don't understand how Flynne can be in Future London in a robot body and also
dead in the past. How is she controlling the body? I'm so confused.
See photo in my above spoiler.

Flynne created a new stub or reality, and is the only one who knows how to get there, because she destroyed the watch. In the photo is says "2032 Continuum Created." When she left the robot body in 2099 she went to the 2032 Continuum she created (new stub), the body in the old stub 2032 that Cherise knew about was killed by Conner's sniper bullet at Flynne's request. When Flynne returned to Insp. Lowbeer, in 2099 it was from the 2032 Continuum Created by Flynne. I'm only guessing but maybe you can return to both 2032 Continuum Stubs from 2099 at the same time, as that is the only way it will work.

I iked the season overall. The acting was strong from most (esepcially CGM), it looked great, I enjoyed the hard science fiction concepts, there was fun action and robots. I can't help but think the pacing was a bit weird though. Some stories felt like they were just getting started in the finale: Wilf and Aleita's for example. The stuff with Flynne creating the new stub felt really rushed and a bit easy (surely the stub creation...place would be better guarded?) The show was pretty light on exposition all the way through, which is good in some ways but made it a bit hard to follow certain developments.

Anyway, I liked it and hope it gets a second season but I wouldn't be surprised at all if this is all we get.

Ok thanks… I think. I may be even more confused now. So in the future there is a way to create a divergent timeline ala the Kelvinverse?

There's two possibilities.

1. Flynn free jacked new Flynn.
2. New Flynn is going to be given a diary explaining what was done last time, so it won't be done again.

The problems with 2. Original 2099 doesn't know where this stub is so they can't meddel anymore, meanwhile there are agents in 2032 working for 2099 who have lost contact with their masters, and don't know what to do with themselves.

I don't think it was explained well.

Respawning to a save point, puts you at an earlier point in the game, but with fore knowledge and acquired skills.

New Flynn is completely ignorant.

They did down load the bad guys data into New Flynn's brain, maybe they gave her cheat codes/a plan, to move forward with, even if they are alone, and 2099 is not breathing down their necks?

The only thing I know for sure is that Cherise at the Research Institute doesn't know where the new stub is and neither does the Klept. London Met. Police Inspector Lowbeer might know, it depends if Flynne wants the Inspector to know and if the Inspector wants to know where the new stub is. The Inspector told Flynne where to go to make a new Stub and how to do it. It also depends on how detailed the instructions the Inspector had to give to Flynne in order for Flynne to create the new Continuum.

I have a feeling when Flynne returned to 2099 after the reset to meet with Insp. Lowbeer, the knowledge and cheat codes she will need that she doesn't already have will be provided at that meeting.

"...and Cherise would have gotten away with it too, if not for that meddling Flynne.

The new stub does not have a corresponding parallel 2099 perhaps because the new 2032 isn't where its supposed to be any more.

Unless new 2032 creates a 2099 stub when it tries to connect with the pilot.

Well! A confusing show, but it kept my interest and I love Flynne. I'm definitely hoping for a 2nd season.

There's a difference between "confusing" and "badly written", or more accurately "poorly explained".

There is another possibility.

The new stub that Flynn just created did contact with the "original/real" 2099 in the pilot, and Flynn was just about the only person who was not aware that it was in play since the beginning the series.

I kind of like that possibility. By the MET Police rules, Inspector Lowbeer can't actually make a new stub for Flynne but can tell Flynne how to create it. The Inspector wants to make an arrest in the "original/real" 2099 using the knowledge Flynne possess from the Research Institute and would tend to give directions to Flynne how to make a new 2032 stub that can't be traced by the R.I. and would link back to the Inspector's "original/real" 2099.

It is being in the perfect witness protection program.

Here's the thing about creating alternate worlds to milk for fun and profit.

You create doubles of oil fields, copper mines, lithium deposits, 3 billion 2nd hand cars, and 12 billion people.

You can't have any of that cool shit, until after you have relegated those 12 billion people who have prior claims to those oil fields you have an eye on.

Any Earth who has been jackpotted, including 2099, is being cleared for harvest by a technologically more advanced Earth with a superiority complex like a Victorian Colonialist.

2099 can't physically travel between stubs and the true future, but maybe 3099 can?
