Stuff that make you wonder but not own thread worthy

No trial for captured AI's! That'll keep `em in line :klingon:

...or lead to open revolt...

Either way, it'll be entertaining
I've often argued the philosophy that in order for Lore to have been given the most just trial for his crimes, it would be best given by a jury of his peers, & Lore only has one known peer, Data.

Even Picard has stated that Data's culture, which he inaccurately referenced as a culture of one, is no less valid than a culture of one billion. What he omitted is that Lore is part of that culture too.

So when Data gave his recommendation to have Lore dismantled, he was in essence ruling on a verdict , as Lore's only valid jury, & since he was also an uncontestablly perfect eyewitness account, all the evidence has been seen & heard by said jury. That IS their due process, & it can all take place in Data's positronic matrix

Picard is well known to be respectful of those kinds of cultural aspects of the varied beings in his crew, whenever it is possible to do so. So, I see nothing wrong with Lore's fate being presided over by Data. It's about as fitting as justice gets imho.

Well, Lore was dismantled... but they could still put his head in the Daystrom Evil AI Prison.

Would it be a fitting or too cruel punishment for someone who tries to destroy all biological life to put his head on a stick?

This is only a vague reference to Picard Season 1 in comparison to AGT, and might have been noted before, but it's funny how Picard became an Admiral and Riker stayed a captain, when the reverse happened in AGT. Also Old Riker in AGT has silver hair and coloured beard, PS1 Riker has coloured hair and silver beard.

I think the most "realistic" solution for the "it cleans itself" thing would be to introduce little cleaning bots to Star Trek who do all the icky tasks they claim no human is forced to do in the future.
Of course, even if they had thought of that when TNG was produced, it would probably have been too costly for a TV show especially for such little gain.
Other than that...maybe there's some non-lethal version of that field or energy wave or whatever it was in Starship Mine that just gets rid of waste matter.

Would it have been any more costly than the scutters on Red Dwarf?

I wouldn't know because I freaking hate Red Dwarf, so I don't know/remember what those "scutters" looked or moved like. But from what I remember Red Dwarf from that time period didn't have as many characters, sets, extras, effects etc. as TNG and was a comedy show (enabling them to get away with shoddier production values) so they might have had extra budget where TNG didn't.

Here's a good and quick Skutters' reference, from series 1 (definitely the cheapest looking):

I've always wondered where the Rocks came from in Yesterday's Enterprise. I mean you have this ship that's getting brutally beaten, Riker dies, and you see Rocks all over the place.

Am I the only one who thinks in season 1 & 2 Picard's haircut neckline is crooked?

It was like this a lot, but later they seemed to sort it out

I was thinking about "A Final Unity" again and it's full voice cast and I think someone should try their hand at animating that as some kind of film or series, as TNG Season 8 basically. Then I found out there's a "Generations" game that came out in 1998 that is an expansion of the film and kind of a sequel to "AFU." I'd never heard of it and it apparently sucks but I kinda want to check it out anyway. Troi goes undercover again as a Romulan or something? Nice!

There's only one thing I'd change with "Yesteday's Enterprise" which is changing the Bird-of-Preys to some other ship, but I was wondering what a Galaxy-class warship would look like if it was kind of unprettied up. Move the bridge off the top. No windows. More phaser banks or torpedo launchers. Thicker hull or more armour or something. I think it's better they used the existing model in the actual episode because I feel it's more interesting seeing something familiar in such an unfamiliar scenario rather than replacing it with something we have no connection to, if this makes sense. I also don't think it should look anything like the future Enterprise from "All Good Things." I feel like that version is trying something different, like it's the equivalent sticking an over the top bodykit, supercharger and exhaust on a car (which I do like for what it is). It's why I don't like that the ISS Enterprise-D uses that same design in the comics. It's not really intimidating to me.

I did wonder for a while why the 1701-D warp core set looks like a big and cheap-looking plastic doggie toy and nothing like the more industrial-looking set that TMP used. Never mind why 1701-E's looks like an even bigger, slightly more expensive-looking doggie toy.

At least what remained of the TMP set was reused on VOY...
