Galaxy Class Redux

Hunter-G

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
It's that time again! Starting with the concept:

From here I'm blocking out the shapes, so I can ensure that the overall proportions are good. It won't match the concept completely, since I'll be tweaking and adjusting it to look good in 3D

I always liked the "D" well enough, can't wait to see what our friend will be cooking up, I guess it's all about balance and he's great at creating that. :mallory:

I hope I can live up to the expectations!

I haven't gotten far, I am having major art block right now. It seems I open the file only to turn the model around over and over trying to think about what to do next. At least I may have figured out the geometry of attaching the saucer

Just take it easy, sometimes it helps to take a peek at things without really trying to push yourself.
As for expectations, I expect to see you create something that you feel like being right and do stuff your way and to ignore mindless ramblings from talentless hacks like me.:D:p;)

Looks like I've neglected this site!

I've had to redo the saucer/neck/engineering hull connection about 5 times, but I think I got the right curves on it now. I think I can call the blocking (infinite tweaking) stage done. Ignore the flat shading, I haven't added any support loops yet, only edge creasing

I'm unreasonably excited to see what you do with this project.

As of this early stage, the biggest difference from the on-screen design I can see is that you've made a "lip" on the nacelles that matches the similar edge on the primary and secondary hulls, which I love. Elements that draw designs together that way are ::chef's kiss::

I'm glad!

I was scared to apply the subD, but it seems it turned out ok. At least I learned from my mistake with the 1701 and saved a copy before applying
