What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

I'm afraid everything pre-2030 will be cancelled by the mid-21st century. What might today be considered progressive will be deemed off-limits by the presentism-orientated AI in charge of content creation & management.

Can't tell if this is satire or not

Maybe. We did this once before in 1950, but sanity and rationality prevailed. Maybe we'll back away from the brink again.

Mathematically, that makes sense. By 2050 everything that started before 2030 would be running for over 20 years if it weren't cancelled. ;)

Given the current composition of the Supreme Court, we'll be fighting for the same things for the next 30 years. Which I guess, again, lines up with... 2050!

I'm looking forward to seeing what our AI Overlords will have in mind for us. I'm also looking forward to the fact that I'll be 70 and won't have to live with whatever they come up with for very long.

In this era of cancel culture, I wouldn't be surprised if that mid-21st century prediction happens by 2030.
Same with tolerance. They talk a good game, but if you don't think the way you're "supposed to" think, tolerance is the opposite of what happens.
Sadly true I fear.

And all this has what to do with Star Trek exactly?

Just so there’s no mistake, that’s a rhetorical question. Feel free to discuss in the appropriate forums.

Considering only one side of the conversations appeared to be singled out on this, which gives the impression this is a controversial opinion, where is the appropriate forum to discuss this part of the topic located?

(Serious question, as I don't have this site mapped out. I typically only do the ST shows and some of the Scifi/Fantasy and DW threads.)

“Cancel culture” etc. can be discussed in Misc or TNZ.

If you think there's too many, simply don't watch the ones you don't like. I wish all my problems were that easy to solve.
I can watch the new Black Panther movie and await Loki's second season while happily not seeing She Hulk or Ms Marvel. I can enjoy live action Star Wars shows and ignore the animated ones. It's okay not to be a hardcore completionist.

This is why the STAR TREK franchise is better than Marvel. (Or more to the point, Disney.)

With Marvel, everything is so interconnected that it becomes a chore to watch instead of just enjoying what you watch.

With ST, there are some interweaving threads, but everything is not anywhere near as interconnected as Marvel. Makes for a more enjoyable viewing experience.
