DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

fun
/fən/

noun
enjoyment, amusement, or lighthearted pleasure.
adjective
amusing, entertaining, or enjoyable.

Some people seem to be too old to remember what fun is and need a little reminder that it still exists out in the real world today.

Carry on.
Fun exists in different levels. My bigger frustration is at the idea that Superman has to be a particular way to be "fun." Maybe fun can be in finding enjoyment in philosophical discussion. I do that quite often. Enjoyment is a very subjective thing.

Just because I enjoy a serious presentation of a superheroes does not make it unenjoyable. In point of fact, it can actually be quite enjoyable.

To everything there is a season, a time and place under heaven.

I have an extremely fun time watching the DCEU interpretation of Superman, who was the first version of the character I actually like.

I think you guys are missing the light hearted and amusing part of the definition. While they might be enjoyable, I don't know if I'd describe the Snyder movies as lighthearted and amusing.

I know there was a bit of humor here and there, but I really don't think I'd describe the overall tone of any of them as lighthearted.

Depends greatly for me on what lightens my heart. MASH definitely has comedic moments but the ones that lift my heart are moments of pure human connection.

There are lighthearted moments in Man of Steel, but it’s not a lighthearted movie (nor was it intended as such). I don’t have any objections to lighthearted superhero movies or TV shows (I loved Legends of Tomorrow and I own the deluxe boxed set of Batman ’66, among other things). And Man of Steel is far and away my favourite Superman film. Room for many approaches, as far as im concerned.

I never considered that a problem.

True, but some have sold themselves on the notion that the superhero--whether in print or its history of film adaptations--must have some overt (as opposed to a light moment) comedic or cartoony qualities to what was and remains a largely serious genre of fiction. It is the satirical or comedic applications that deviate from the source.

Its a superhero film, not a cartoon, or comedic fantasy such as Back to the Future or Ghostbusters. What light moments are found in MoS are naturally occurring, not playing scenes (and at times, the lead performer) up for laughs like some superhero films, or in the worst case, outright parody like the worst of Dozier's Batman, and its unofficial sequel, Legends of the Superheroes..

I think by now we can just all agree that we like different interpretations of certain characters (the comics have depicted them in different ways throughout the years as well) and maybe, just maybe.... accept we think and feel differently and be ok with that?

Right, sorry, I forgot..... It's a BBS. That shit don't fly.

I'm fine with that.

I would welcome all types. But one isn't the most accurate over another.

The big issue being..... I can already think of atleast three people on this forum that (in their minds atleast) will respond with 'yeah, personal opinion is fine and all, but if you will just listen to me you'll accept that I'm right and you're not' and that's kinda sad.

Sad but true...

i need to jumpinto this conversation.... but for now, I will justpost that I had a calendar reminder that today was supposed to the day (or at least A day) that was scheduled for the Flash to premiere.

So much for that.... (and 2 years ago, Cyborg was supposed to come out)

Indeed. And it would be a lot cooler if some didn't take it so personally when someone else criticises the version they like.
