DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

It would be great to see a new Superman movie. If this is set in the same universe, it would be good to acknowledge that 10-15 years have passed and our characters have grown. Would love to see Lois and Clark with a young Jonathan.
Dunno about Jonathan, but I certainly hope Adams returns, if the sequel happens.

I can't imagine a show without Adams. One thing the comics dropped the ball on was aging Jonathan up (although I continued to enjoy the character). Young Jonathan really added a fresh coat of paint to Clark and Lois relationship and I think the family dynamic really deserves the cinematic treatment.

I loved the introduction of Jonathan and of the family dynamic in the comics, and think it works excellently in a somewhat different way on Superman & Lois. I wouldn't object to Jonathan being included on the cinematic side as well, but I also don't miss his absence.

Of course, per Zack Snyder's Justice League, Lois was apparently pregnant, so you could get your wish if they take any cues from there.

Even if Jonathan were to be introduced into the DCEU, he'd still be a small child, and it's therefore doubtful that he'd be there as anything other than a mentioned or only briefly seen background character.

Pregnant with the next Batman if I remember correctly.

He'd be between 6 and 8 depending on when the new movie is set, which is close to how old he was when he was first introduced in the comics. The key element for him being in a movie is showing Clark/Superman in a paternal role--hopefully in a better way than we already saw years ago.

I wouldn’t give him a kid in the sequel. Get the character established again and then shoehorn the kids and/or Supergirl in the third one

The trailers I've seen make it look a pretty brainless film - which I don't mind if the action scenes are good but I would not pay money to see in a cinema.

That was a notion of Snyder's the studio nixed at an early stage, as I recall. There's nothing in ZSJL as released to suggest Lois and Bruce had gotten together.
I don’t think it was Bruce’s kid. It was Clark’s but he just didn’t have powers.

If there are more Wonder Woman and Batman films / appearances yet to be developed, I believe any Superman sequel will not pitch him so far into the future. Zaslav was firm in wanting the "trinity" to return, and I cannot help but to believe that means more Justice League movies involving the three, and one of the characters--Batman--is subject to normal human aging, so their shared adventures should be set in a reasonable period of time.

Regarding the Kent side of things, I would not be opposed to the couple starting a family, but keeping the child in toddler age, not any older for the moment.

That's only if the Snyder Cut ended up being Canonized, which honestly isn't likely.

Also, I know there used to be a bunch of chatter about The Flash ushering in a complete Continuity Reboot, but with the cancellation of Batgirl, developments on Black Adam and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and now this news about Cavill and another Superman movie starring him, what I think we will end up seeing post-The Flash is a "DC Rebirth"-style continuation that keeps most of what happened in the DCEU previously but introduces a few changes as well.

By the time we get to a Justice League sequel (if they indeed go that way), a decade will have passed in real time for Batman. A young Jonathan is more than possible. One of the biggest mistakes of the start of the DCU was starting with the end of Batman's career (Robin's dead, Dark Knight Returns influence, etc, Affleck ain't no spring chicken anymore). It was already built on a shaky foundation, they can't turn back on that now if they want to keep using Affleck, which they appear do.

Even if Black Adam should be just okay, we can rest assured it will get gradually better with Black Adam II, Black Adam the Third, and Black Adam Goes Forth.
