Finally finished the season. Ending in a spot where all the child characters are on the Jedi side and the only outstanding thing is Creese's escape. They really could have ended the series here, not sure where the heck they're going to go next. Are there any original characters other than Julie Pierce they haven't used yet?

Was the last episode recorded before or after season 4 of Stranger Things came out?

Any chance the Metallica demon was a reference to Stranger Things?

Well, there are plenty of other characters in Julie Pierce's movie. Michael Ironside and Walton Goggins would be interesting additions to the cast.

Goggins would be cool, but poor Michael Ironside hasn’t looked too terribly well lately. Saw him recently on an ad for a Hallmark movie, of all things (my wife watches that channel a lot) and we were both quite shocked.

I still think it might be interesting to have Jackie Chan make a brief appearance. Add some traditional Chinese style to the mix.

The man is 72 and has survived TWO types of cancer. Of course he isn't going to look in tip top condition.

(I would personally love to see him go to DragonCon at some point because I would love to chat with him about the range of characters he's played. I have heard that he is somewhat hesitant to be around large crowds, but I still have hope that day he'll be at the Walk of Fame.)

Based on recent interviews it sounds like it could go beyond that.

Yeah, he's one of those actors who end up looking young. Even when he was in the original Karate Kid, he looked younger than he was cast, though that may have factored in having him look vulnerable.

Yeah, I agree. I know the writers have said only the Miyagi-verse movies count, but if there's an international martial-arts tournament that's been going on, then I see no reason not to. And it's not like the idea of having a mentor is a unique idea. Both students and mentors shouldn't have to be mutually exclusive. In fact, a meeting between Daniel and Mr San (Jackie Chan) could have Daniel remark to him how he reminds Daniel of Miyagi and could serve as a powerful bridge.

Reguarding the season, I quite liked it, but I was disappointed they didn't use Mike Barnes more than they did. I thought they would have given his character more involvement in the season.

I'm excited but kinda heartbroken it will be the last. I wonder if that Sony movie had anything to do with it or maybe Netflix cost cutting?

I am excited and heartbroken, too... but 6 seasons is a good run. Especially once you consider what other stakes can be added without being repetitive or ridiculous?

Better to go out on a high note than stay on the air too long and fizzle out your last couple years. (I'm looking squarely at you, THE X-FILES... original run.)

I think six seasons is the right time to end the show. I feel like they will have told a complete story at this point with good character arcs for the main cast. To keep going after season six would just drag things on too long. Plus, at this point, I am not sure what stakes they could do that would not seem repetitive or farfetched. Overall, I think the show did a fantastic job revitalizing an old classic. The show was faithful in spirit to the original movies and was very respectful of the characters.

I’m just glad it’s getting a planned ending and won’t end on a cliffhanger.

Yeah, at least they know when to end it, and there will be spinoffs, including a movie.

Yep. I'm looking forward to it. It's being tied up pretty well too.

That would go a long way in increasing my interest in the show. I thought Season 3 was excellent but the rest has started to drag. My wife loves it but I'm just not feeling it as much.

Well, with the upcoming season 6 being the last, they don't have much to lose if they go that route (or not). It would make for an interesting crossover, but while I too would love to see it happen, I highly doubt that it actually will. I honestly don't know how they're going to wrap this up, short of simply bringing Kreese back in as the final bad guy, but they really need to work hard not to make it a re-hash of the first few seasons pre-Silver.

It would be very meta for them to bring back Jackie Chan as Mr. San. I kinda doubt Jaden Smith would do it, plus, his character would be too old to be competing at this point, I think. But you never know.

Being that they've pretty much got everything but the kitchen sink at this point, I agree that it wouldn't hurt. But maybe they'd keep it for a spinoff? I think the fact that there's another dojo elsewhere with a different but similar philosophy fits in with the general idea of the show. Plus Mr Han, without knowing it follows in the spirit of Miyagi's legacy, even though they might be different disciplines. I think Mr Han would be honoured.

Looks like the final season will be delayed now that the writer's strike has gone ahead. I was hoping it would be in the can already. Hope the situation gets resolved quickly.
