Luis Castillo agrees to a five-year, $108 million extension with the Mariners.

That feels like a tremendous steal for Seattle.

I remember when people freaked out over Kirby Puckett becoming the first $3 million per year baseball player. Now that doesn't even get you a below average veteran journeyman reliever.

Congrats to Pujols for getting to 700 HRs last night. He's been on a tear for the last month. Glad he got it before he retires.

Back when Puckett played, MLB didn't make nearly $10 billion in revenue every year.

I wonder, if Pujols had stayed in STL, would be be knocking on the door of "all time HR leader"?

His last few years in LA weren't up to par for him.

If that was a deal he was willing to accept, Cincinnati should have never traded him.

I'm not sure he takes that deal if Cincinnati were the ones to offer it. At least the Mariners seem to be heading in the right direction. And I'd much rather live in Seattle than Cincinnati.

Tony LaRussa won't be returning to the dugout this season.

There are whispers that Don Mattingly won't be returning to the Marlins for 2023.

Almost certainly not. His career wasn't derailed by going to the Angels, it was derailed by developing plantar fasciitis--which is a degenerative condition--in his foot, and that condition started when he was still a Cardinal. Given that the National League didn't have the designated hitter until the shortened COVID season (and then didn't have the DH in 2021 before it being implemented again this year), he would have been out of the league by now, as he was essentially a full-time DH as of 2016.

Royals beat the Mariners 13-12 after being down 11-2.

    Yankees clinch the East!

(wonder if this means pitchers will stop intentionally walking Aaron Judge 4 or 5 times per game just to keep him from hitting HR #61...)

This 1B ump is hoping to catch "balkin' Bob Davidson". Another asshole tryna make a name for himself.

This is one of those moments where the Umpire needs to explain what the pitcher was doing wrong. Just calling Balks over and over makes him look like an asshole.

Maybe we'll just keep doing it until Nick Turturro's head explodes.

Did anyone else see The Rolling Stone throwing shade at Mark Maguire, Sammy Sosa, and Barry Bonds after Judge hit 61?
