For my money, that's too elitist , especially in a show that supposedly values diversity. What’s wrong with that?
I value real diversity too. What the show preaches has nothing to do with the real world. It’s just a tv show. For my money, that's too elitist , especially in a show that supposedly values diversity.
I'm not talking about what's on the show. I'm talking about having people from all walks of life and background having a Star Trek show that they can enjoy. Not just for the elite few. That's the diversity I want, in the real world, people coming together to appreciate and enjoy a work of fiction, not just for the uber-elite SF fans.I value real diversity too. Trek was never meant for some "select" high-brow group of people. That's looking at the past through rose-colored glasses and ignoring how the industry works.
I just miss when Star Trek was for a select kind of people and I don’t care how that makes me sound.
Yeah, I think we used to say that about TNG and those sequel series when they first came along. Every age has its own myopic and unjustified snobbery toward the new. There’s no accounting for taste. I guess standards are just low now.
He's been told this a million times before. If he doesn't understand it by now, he's not ever going to.FWIW @Nenya I'm older than you so it ain't about "hip". I love Star Trek. I love all the "nuTrek" shows. I don't watch things I don't like - I gave up on both Voyager and Enterprise, for example. You are entitled to your opinion, but please don't act like those of us who disagree with you are wrong or stupid.
