The rant about outpost scientists was my favorite part of this episode.

I call on the TrekBBS community to help me answer this question:

Is there anything in this episode I need to be forewarned about regarding gratuitous sex or violence to the degree where it would be irresponsible to watch this in the company of my ten year old daughter, who enjoys watching the show with me?

There is some animated gore (very brief), and nightmare creatures. She might find them disturbing.

The clowns with bat'leth arms and Borg snake from the trailer, and a leg amputation by chainsaw that is cut away from just before it happens.

I think they're just going with the fact his interest in being a big Starfleet guru trumps his horniness.

The quick cut to Dr. T'ana revving up the Starfleet-issued chainsaw got the biggest laugh out of me.

A step up from last week for sure.

T’ana is kind of a sneaky great character, maybe because she’s seemingly used so sparingly. She was great in the scene with Tendi.

love that Leah Brahams is the dream girl of the nerdy engineering dudes.

Loved that Stevens saw the Koala and black mountain.

    8/10 for me.

Felt like a kinda classic TOS plot but it seemed very light and quick as an episode.
Obviously finding out Rutherford has the same fantasy as the rest of us was funny and Mariner's fantasy being a rule 34 version of Jennifer was an important scene for her.
She has never seemed embarrassed by her sexual orientation before so I assume it's that she doesn't want anyone to know how much she is thinking about her.

The aliens doing all this for "more rocks" was a funny little ending.

Finally some of the so far missing crew got a bit of screen time which is great. I had been missing Dr. Cat.

As has been noted some gore, and also some fantasy characters who are being somewhat lascivious, one in a fairly standard kinda way the other in a more amusing, nerdy kind of way.

Anyway I thought that was a really fun episode, and for me them thinking Boimler was a tiny robot was very funny.

I said on Twitter that Lower Decks continues to pack more plot (and heart) into 25 minutes than most shows can do in 60. We had an A and B story which dovetailed at the end, we had stuff for each of our four main cast to do, plus the captain, Doctor, Shax etc

    Dang I love this show.

Couple of other points, so was Mariner's fantasy Jennifer in a bikini and her nightmare Jennifer wanting to grow old with her?

Do we think the basketball is some kind of link to Rutherford's supressed memories?

    Leah Brahms!

I thought it was cute how Mariner was getting embarrassed about her relationship in front of Boimler and Rutherford. Kinda like a little boy in elementary or middle school when you ask if they have a girlfriend, and they turn all redfaced and try to deny it.

Big improvement from last week. I smiled a few times. Leah Brahms as Rutherford's fantasy girl was funny. And Boimler being the sidekick in his own fantasy.

And Klingon clowns with Bat-leths for arms.

Looking forward to the inevitable Jennifer cosplays that'll spin from this one:lol:

It was decent. Seeing the Hood was cool. She's gotta be near end of service life by now but is still considered at least a mid tier vessel doing "first contacts" and leaving the Cali-classes to clean up. As was mentioned it was pretty sitcom like this week. Didn't care for the two captains bickering. The nightmare illusions and seeing Dr. Brahms again was cool. I was entertained for a half hour. (I wish it was an hour long!)

I thought Mariner's reaction to Jennifer was the most interesting part of episode. She wants more intimacy with Jennifer - not just in the hot, sexytimes way, but she wants to deepen their relationship. She wants to go from being fwb to being an item. But at the same time, she's resistant - her fear was getting tied down: growing old together, getting boring, and doing dull, tedious little old lady things together until they die. But that's Mariner - she does care about her people a lot, but doesn't quite *trust* them enough to actually communicate honestly most of the time. I hope we get some follow-up on this.

One of my favorite parts and kind of subtle but hilarious to me was the California surfer boy accent the Tellurite (primary groin injury guy) had. I thought this was a good outing, not spectacular but this is how the other two seasons progressed also. The funny ramps up until it kills towards the last few episodes. I don't mind. And I love Dr. T'Ana so so much. I want to be her.
