End of an era. I'm in my 50's and she was England's queen my entire life until today. Even though I'm an American, it seems strange to think of her being gone.
Charles became King the moment the Queen died. People speculated that he might abdicate in favor of William, but I think it's going to take an unprecedented set of circumstances for any of the next few generations to even consider that, given that this branch of the family only came to the throne because Edward VIII put his own selfish interests above his duty to his country.*I was wondering how the succession would work; I don't really keep up on the details about this sort of thing.

I actually feel a bit sad about this. She was always THERE. Presidents and Prime Ministers come and go but the Queen was always there. For 70 years--almost 71. Damn.![]()
