Most of the rest was already in the trailer, like Kulkulkan, bat'leth clowns, and the Borg snake.

It feels like Disco S4 and PIC S2 all over again, where not much interesting stuff happens in each episode...

There are two things I'm really loving about this season so far. The first thing is getting legacy characters/actors(actresses) back. First it was James Cromwell and now they got Susan Gibney back to reprise the role of Leah. I think that's one of the reasons I love Lower Decks as much as I do. It really does feel like a sequel/continuation of the Star Trek I grew up with, and I can't wait till they get to DS9, hopefully, later in the season.

The second thing I'm enjoying are the creature designs. One of my favorite things about the old animated series was the writers were able to design creatures (Like the Phoenix bird) in such a way that would be hard to do in live action. I'm watching this episode and loving the look of the flying thing and the Borg snake and just the colors are popping out and look gorgeous.

As for the episode itself, it was probably the weakest episode so far, but I still enjoyed it. I liked the chemistry of the two crews and hope we see Kearns and the Carlsbad crew again. The stuff with Freeman and the other guy was kinda dumb but the scene with T'ana and Tendi was nice, ending with T'Ana and the chainsaw.

This episode gets a 7 from me this week.

So, technology to scan a persons mind psychically and record all sorts of private information using Federation Tech apparently exists. And it was misused by the Scientists and the local Silicate / Silicon Species in a elaborate con-job to try to steal StarFleet info and sell it on the Black Market.

So, Telepathic / Psionic Jammers must be a pretty common / popular item amongst those who REALLY care about privacy at all costs, including mental privacy.

But this also has HUGE implications in that all criminal suspects could easily get their mind scanned by these technological devices and used the memories as evidence in court.

No wonder why Earth is considered a Paradise.

No crime could be committed without getting caught, then eventually Electronic-Telepathically scanned for evidence of said crime(s).

    Interesting Side-Notes:
-> Mariner is in a relationship with the Androian Ensign Jennifer Sh'reyan
-> The Petrification Effect can be reversed, even with missing limbs
-> Apparently Tellerite Males have a "Dominant Groin" ???
Does that mean they have more than one Groin?

The episode was very sitcom-y, in which there was a misunderstanding between two parties which lead to shenanigans and then a resolution where everything is explained and the characters bond. It's an old staple of the genre.

It was nice to see a return of a legacy starship, the USS Hood; however, the animators could have done a better job of depicting this Excelsior-class starship. Her left nacelle was funky.

The Carlsbad was probably named after Carlsbad, California, an affluent city in San Diego County.

The USS Hood probably needs to visit SpaceDock to get her Left Warp Nacelle aligned ^_-

    Also, we get a Blue-Accented "California-class Ship".

I love how this episode canonized that Leah Brahms is apparently the crush of a huge bunch of engineering nerds.

Wow, that has to be a horrifying status to have in Starfleet.

Only a few giggles, but entertaining none the less.
Another 7 this week from me.

Again we see that Boimler is so focused on his career that he doesn't even fantasize about sex.

Seeing the Hood under a new captain makes me wonder what happened to Captain DeSoto.

The guy wasn’t exactly young when we saw him in 2266. So, perhaps he’s relaxing in retirement.

Or keeping Jellico on the straight and narrow at Admiral’s meetings.

Or trying to track down the jerk who stole his desk a few years back.

Fun episode. Felt short some reason. I guess we finally get some confirmation on the Jennifer/Mariner relationship.

I seem to be bucking the trend here, but I found it a relatively strong episode. Funnier than the first two, and (cameo from Leah Brahms and the feathered dragon from TAS aside) the humor was not really reliant upon memberberries from other Trek shows. Indeed, a lot of the story here was related to things established in earlier seasons! Beyond that it was really more focused on generic Trek tropes, rather than specific Trek references. And the series continues its "heartwarming" vibe, with the team from the competing ship just thinking the Cerritos was really cool, along with more adorbs Tendi. It's amazing to me how the show can manage to ram in character arcs into such a short run.

I guess - since Boimler was the only member of the away mission not to fantasize about a hot woman - we're retconning away his first-season characterization, and he's asexual now?
