What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Jadzia did not have to die. The series would have done just fine with her making fewer appearances. DS9 made few mistakes, but that was definitely a biggie.

totally agree. In a perfect world Jadzia lives and has a baby with Worf, giving birth in the finale.

They could find a different storyline for Tom and Belanna so they don’t overlap.

I’m just saying, if the events with Terry Farrell play out the same and Jadzia is killed off you just let Dax go.

If Jadzia dies, letting her go is an excellent thematic touchstone for what the war cost.

except she really wasn’t a casualty of war. If she had died during the mission in the recovered Jem Hadar ship, or recovering the spy sure. But how it happened was really more a case of “wrong place, wrong time”.

Which is more a commentary that would fit with Trek, the futility of war, ruining the best and brightest and reaching even when it is unexpected.

Jadzia should have hooked up with Quark, not Worf.

Imagine the character growth Quark would have had dealing with a strong assertive woman who called him out on his bullshit.

I just never liked Jadzia or found her interesting. First she was boring as hell, and then they turned her into yet another Klingon fangirl.
I also thought she could frequently be pretty bitchy, and the whole relationship with Worf was pure misery.

I liked Jadzia way more than Ezri.

same here. Team Jadzia in a blow out.

Every character starts off different then where they end up. Picard is probably the best example. S1 Picard was a freakin asshole but he kinda smooths the edges as the series goes along.

what do you mean by “Klingon Fangirl”?

I know characters change, what I was saying is that in my eyes Jadzia just went from someone I found boring to someone I found obnoxious.
As to what I mean by Klingon fangirl...she was one of those Berman Trek characters who was needlessly enthusiastic about Klingon culture and things like that, like that's pretty much how her awful relationship with Worf started.
And that wasn't even something Jadzia brought to the table, it was something she had inherited from Curzon.

Which brings me to another critique; we learned very little about who Jadzia is. Most of her was Dax and/or Curzon.
With Ezri it was the other way around, most of her was Ezri.

To be honest, I never found Worf that interesting, either on TNG or DS9. But that could simply be because I don't really identify too much with the character (I'm not trying to fit in in a society with a different culture, for example).

I found Worf more interesting on DS9, largely because he got to rub elbows with other Klingons a little more frequently. I am generally not a big Klingon fan, but Martok made that work. TNG had it but it always felt very static. But, then Worf could feel very static.
