From what I understand, a lot of the B5 books had JMS's input. At the very least, his blessing. Considering he wrote over 90 of the 110 episodes of B5, if he says it's canon, I can accept it as canon. (I have not read any of the books, thougg in hindsight, I should have bought them along with my STAR TREK novels when I did.)
There are only eleven B5 novels worth reading IMO: The Shadow Within by Jeanne Cavelos To Dream in the City of Sorrows by Kathryn M. Drennan Dark Genesis – The Birth of the Psi Corps by Gregory Keyes Deadly Relations – Bester Ascendant by Gregory Keyes Final Reckoning – The Fate of Bester by Gregory Keyes Legions of Fire – The Long Night of Centauri Prime by Peter David Legions of Fire – Armies of Light and Dark by Peter David Legions of Fire – Out of the Darkness by Peter David The Passing of the Techno-Mages – Casting Shadows by Jeanne Cavelos The Passing of the Techno-Mages – Summoning Light by Jeanne Cavelos The Passing of the Techno-Mages – Invoking Darkness by Jeanne Cavelos Some of the early tie-in novels are pretty crappy as are the unofficial Mongoose Publishing novels from about fifteen years ago.
Sherlock and Elementary despite being made at the same time do not share canon. Sherlock novels are doubly not in the same canon as Elementary Novels.
I have never ever seen that....... Love the theme song. I'm currently near the middle of the 90s Johnny Quest, boy that show had issues.
That is the only reason I haven't read them. I just can't bring myself to pay the prices some of the sellers on the Amazon Marketplace are asking for.
Post 2000 Johnny ain't doing so well. So you gotta wonder did the Techno Mages work side by side with the Drahk in the War with Valen butting in, or were the Drahk called up from the minor leagues when the Techno Mages' went AWOL?
JMS has announced on his Twitter page that a new B5 project is done, which includes all surviving original series cast, and will be debuted at SDCC next year. This is a separate project from the reboot. No other info is available yet.
I would take anything he says on Twitter with a grain of salt until it's officially announced. Exciting if true tho
How is his Tweet not an official announcement? He was obviously authorized to speak about this new OG B5 thing by whomever his production partners on it were.
This is very probably the animated project that was rumored back before the first whispers of the reboot started coming out. That'd also account for the extraordinarily long lead-time between it being rumored, done, and fully revealed.
Almost half of the B5 (counting all seasons) main cast have passed beyond veil. They definitely seem to have bad luck in that area.
I scored the whole lot at a library sale for, maybe, 50 cents apiece. Check out "Thriftbooks". You might get lucky.
I have heard the rumors of several B5 animated movies coming out. I would be worried if they are from WB animation.
