Kirk in Season 2 would be a bad idea.

No, but you dont have to tell EVERY story .. Save some precious screen time for other characters that haven't gotten 69 episides and 7 movies.
I imagine it won't just be "THE KIRK SHOW!" but also might involve other characters, like Gary Mitchell, and such. It could be a little fun thing to explore the early parts of Kirk's career. Just like it has been fun to see Pike in more than one episode. That's the nature of storytelling.

That's just crazy talk.

As others said it's already a done deal. I bet we also eventually, in another show, get either the first 2 years of Kirk's 5 year mission or the last. Whichever 2 they decide we never originally saw.

And continue after the 5YM right up until they report to SD for a Refit.

I'm just saying, why bother continue the first five year mission, when they could just as easily make show about Kirk's second five year mission post-TMP. That would be a far more excitable project.
Why not both? Honestly. The sky's the limit here and opportunities abound. There's no need to box it in when you have a new actor who could potentially age across the role. Or, you could just flip it around and have Kirk in his younger years. Either choice is perfectly acceptable in terms of what we have seen in Kirk's career.

I may not care for Kirk on SNW, but I won't sit there and go "No, nay, never" to him having his own show.

Has anyone who controls what's being made said it would be one or the other?

As far as I know, no one who controls what's being made has said any such show is even being considered.

Though for the record, between the two I'd vote for the second five year mission.

I wish Uhura wasn't there either.
I love Celia Rose and everything she does. I just wish she was a new character. Didn't feel like Nichelle Nichols at all.

I like it when they have new characters (Hemmer was best of the bunch), or expand on very minor characters (Pike, M'Benga & Chapel).

Spock is barely acceptable, only because he's part since "the cage" & Peck does a fine job. But otherwise I never want to see a rebooted legacy character again, ever.

I mean the showrunners seem somewhat smart in this regard: They introduce Kirk, give him a somewhat major role in Season 2. And then if fans like him, they can expand on him/give him a show like they did with Anson Mount. And if not - he just exits the show, to return maybe for another small part in the future. I just wish we didn't have to go through these motions in the first place.

Its inevitable that if you start with Pike, with some of Kirk's future crew, then Kirk has to make more appearances in the show's timeline
I always wanted new actors to play the legacy roles and then new stories could be told about Kirk's Enterprise.
It's a no brainer.
