Stop Motion Artist for "Conspiracy"...

WAMTNG

Just watched "Conspiracy" with my family - my wife is still in shock that they aired this one, but my eldest son loved it! I'm trying to work out the production history of the stop motion special effects sequences for inclusion in the WAM for this episode (which won't run until near the end of the year), but there's not much to go on...

Memory Alpha reports that the soft-wire armature prop used in the puppet was made by Starlight Effects... did someone at Starlight also do the stop motion...? Nobody on the main production crew could possibly have done such a thing in my estimations, both because it's seriously specialised work, but more importantly because it's so time consuming that the main production crew wouldn't have had time.

Any intel on the stop motion monster animations welcome! Also: if anyone has a picture of the armature, that would blow my mind.

Thanks in advance for the assist!

The stop motion animation was done by David Stipes. He was a freelancer in Season 1 but did eventually join the franchise as a VFX supervisor. Stipes writes about the experience on his site: https://davidstipes.net/?p=167
Brilliant! Thanks so much for this! Trek fans are the best! :luvlove:

I'll include a thanks to you in the "Conspiracy" WAM, although it isn't running until November. (If you'd prefer another name other than PT109 in the acknowledgement, just let me know.)

It's explained in the OP's signature line. In case you have sigs disabled...

The Words (W), Acting Roles (A), and Models (M) of Star Trek: The Next Generation. To boldly go where we've all been before... but slightly differently!

Yeah, sorry, as David cgc says, it's in my sig. Forgive me for just assuming that people would automatically make the connection though (I've been human long enough to know that communication is never that straightforward!). Apologies for laziness on my part!

Signatures are in normal settings, apparently I haven't payed enough attention to signatures. Thanks for the tip.

No problem, you and David cgc have arrived to the rescue.
Communication is not always simple, in my case English is not first language so that may have caused some weirdness.
