Stargate SG1 25th Anniversary

It still requires investment up front. It requires confidence that people will buy it and make it worth it. And I don't see that being expressed.

I could make a long list of properties, genre and otherwise, with much smaller fanbases that have had/will have the investment made. It is odd and notable to me that SG has been left out (so far).

As I said there is no confidence there. I like Stargate but it clearly isn't inspiring the idea people will spend money on it. Or enough money. Because what people say they'll buy and what they actually will buy is a big gap.

Problems:

* Lack of humor.
* Miserable characters.
* Abundance of darkness (both literally and figuratively).
I think you and I were watching two different shows. The show had humor, the characters weren't "miserable" and the show had its dark moments. (especially in Season 9 when you literally see a person get burnt to death.) so yeah don't know where you coming from.

Refugee from an alternative reality? That show got a grand total of two seasons and it struggled to break past the first.

Apparently a tweet "storm" is going from 4-5pm eastern if you want to participate. Can tweet at any time but I guess they want the bulk to go at 4p. Get stargate trending.
Coming on the heels of the Morbius re-release fiasco and the news that 15% of the #releasethesnydercut tweets were bots, I find it amusing anyone thinks trending on twitter is gonna make a difference to anything.

well considering it did get a re release, and the Synyder cut did get done, I think it did have an impact.
And since there sitting on there colective hands at the moment.. I'll try anything to budge them.

I just finished a full "watch" a couple weeks ago. I don't think I ever watched the full series, but only reruns on SciFi when I had DISH.

I really enjoyed it. Only a very few episodes that were "meh". Overall a really good episodic show, with over-reaching arcs that they weren't as slavish to as more modern shows (I don't mind in on ST-Discovery)

I always laughed when Samantha would be a genius most of the time, then do something completely stupid and get captured immediately.

I'm on to Atlantis now.

Due to computer issues, I never got past ripping S3 of SG-1 and due to blu-ray disc 2 of Season 1 of SGA being bad and unlikely to find a replacement and needing SGU, I went ahead and ordered the VEI 3 full series blu-ray set.

I'll let you know how much difference I see from SG-1 DVD to blu-ray after ripping the first disc.

SGA was massively better looking, but is was a later series. We'll see.

The Ancients went from a source of approbation (Stargate SG1: "The Fifth Race" and "Frozen") to a literally unbelievably stupid bunch of techno-snobs; this eventual development is - essentially - Epicurus' "god paradox"...for the sake of preserving drama.

Top image ripped from DVD (@1920x1080) in one app, bottom image ripped from BD (@1920x1080) in another app. In both instances, I used the highest possible settings.

The blu-rays are definitely better looking, even on this season 1 episode (A Brief Candle).
