So it's a massively multi-player co-op game instead of PvP?

I don't know enough about gaming to say, but I'd assume "co-op" means cooperative. Yet the premise here is that there's a single victor at the end, so they must be competing in some way. Is there a way for a single player to win a co-op game?

What I wonder about a game based on saving people from monsters is, did the game designers merely choose to build the game around an existing monster threat, or did they create the monster threat for the sake of the game? I bet the Riders initially think it's the former until there's a Shocking Revelation that it's the latter and the game runners are evil.

Or it could be something like Blade's approach where the game has an ancient origin and was restarted by accident, and there's no choice but to play it out.

Plenty, you don't have to fight your fellow players, but people can easily aim for objectives or points.

I hope they don't retread old KR plot material.

It's been done, let's not retread old ground and honestly come up with something new.

IF it's a Co-Op based game setting, I'm all for it. We haven't seen that before within the KR story contex.

Christopher, you really should start gaming more, especially given how influential modern gaming is on Story/Plot.

It's just not my thing. Some years back, I was offered an opportunity to write content for a now-defunct MMORPG, which never panned out, but I was given the materials needed to install and join the game. I quickly grew bored with it since it was just mashing buttons over and over again.

MMORPG's aren't a good way to introduce you to gaming in all honesty.

Maybe we should start you back at the 8-bit era with the original "Super Mario Bros".

Dude... I had Pong. Hell, I played the original Star Trek game on a university computer when I visited a professor uncle in the '70s or early '80s, as well as an Asteroids-like game animated with ASCII text symbols (where my strategy was just to put the V-shaped ship into a continuous spin and shoot wildly). And I played my share of computer games in the floppy-disk era as well, like Rogue, the Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom game (I always yelled "Whee!" when Indy swung across a gap with his whip), The Monuments of Mars, Commander Keen, Jane of the Jungle, Wolfenstein 3D, Sim City, and so forth. I had Star Trek: The Kobayashi Alternative and 25th Anniversary, though I was never any good at them. (I also remember a Roger Rabbit game with only three colors on the screen. It was frustrating to play because something about it didn't work the way it was supposed to. I think it installed wrong on our computer.)

I'm not ignorant of games, I've just never had a hardcore interest in them, not enough to get involved with the more elaborate online games when they emerged. And the more realistic games got, the less I wanted to play anything that involved shooting or killing enemies. These days my preferences run more toward crosswords and sudoku.

As great as many of those games were, they aren't considered 'Iconic Games' or 'Game Changers' like the OG "Super Mario Bros".

I guess you wouldn't enjoy the majority of modern games since they involve combat and defeating of enemies in one form or another.

Just watched the KR Geats trailer.
KR Buffa from KR Geats has a "Chainsaw" as his main weapon. LOL.

I think this is the first time we have a Gun User as the main Kamen Rider and not as a Secondary or Tertiary Rider.

7 Starting KR's, at least one of the Riders is female.
Everybody is color coded. Definitely Super Sentai influences.

It depends on how. The MMPORG I got to sample was a superhero game, but the gameplay was all just about mashing buttons to use your powers over and over on a bunch of impersonal mooks. There was no charismatic supervillain to match wits against, no creative problem-solving required to overcome them, none of the kind of action and conflict that make superhero stories interesting. It was just another shooter game with different trappings.

One thing I learned from Kamen Rider Build is that the best action is motivated by character. Most of the fights in that show weren't just about stunts or special effects, but were clashes of the Riders' goals and values and contrasting personalities, and debates over what was worth fighting for. That was what made it so compelling. Impersonal action that's just mechanics doesn't do it for me.

A number of primary Riders have had guns in their arsenals or had henshin devices, swords, etc. that changed into gun modes: https://kamenrider.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Guns

I'm not sure if any of them used them as their primary weapons, though. Maybe Faiz, since the Faiz Phone had a blaster mode, and that was the most basic piece of his equipment.

IC, didn't you dislike KR Build, or was that another Toku fan?

But in those cases, Gun mode was always a secondary mode.

Faiz didn't seem to have one primary weapon that he used, he just had a wide array of kit to pick from. He's closer to Batman in that he has gadgets for everything and doesn't favor any one in particular.

Here in the action shots & the posters, the Gun that Geats is wielding is shown to be his primary weapon.

Wow, no. It was my first KR series (not counting the US adaptations) and the one that made me a fan. I loved it at the time, and it's still one of my all-time favorites now that I've seen all the others.

Don't worry, most people don't take the US Adaptations seriously as their "First Kamen Riders".

My first KR was Ryuki way back in the day as it was airing.

Something people noticed during the Geats trailer. We not only get Dapan The panda themed rider. We get a slight repaint to make it a separate polar bear rider

Okay, the one I thought was an insect looks more like some kind of bird of prey, perhaps a horned owl. And the one with the pink head... maybe a longhorn sheep of some sort?

Sheep rider is called Kamen Rider Merry

Penguin rider is Kamen Rider Ginpen

I want to get excited for the Geats riders but when 90% of them at this point are just basic black undersuits it's hard to get pumped.

They look like random fodder that show up during a movie.

I do get the in show reason though because the players are just starting out and they'll eventually gain their armors and power-ups

Hopefully they don't rush the power-ups or the overly quick to get to form 2 and ultimate form.

That's been a problem with riders as of late where they get their upgrades forms way too fast.

Ahh, it's a Merino sheep. I don't know how I remembered that there was such a breed -- I've probably seen it in crossword puzzles -- but apparently the males do have spiral horns like that.

D'oh! Yep, that fierce bird of prey, the penguin. I missed that one.

Yes, we've already seen how Geats adds different pieces to his base armor depending on which components he attaches to his driver. Presumably they'll all have the same mix-and-match mechanic, and maybe even be able to trade armor pieces.

Although it does feel like a budget-saving move to give them all the same base suit with just the helmets and attachments differing. I'm reminded of how Ultraman Rosso and Blu from R/B each had four "elemental" forms, with their costumes designed with detachable modular colored pieces (head, breasplate, gloves, boots) that could be easily swapped out (and shared between the two) rather than having to build four entire costumes for each brother.

    Sakura Igarashi would disagree...

The Entry forms feel like an evolution of things Toei's been trying for years. Build Hazard, Kamen Rider Zaia, Saikou Shadow. And now Riders that can mostly forego the armor entirely. All of them will eventually get something more Rider-like, but it's a noticeable trend.

Sentai has been on a minimalist approach for a few years

"Design the headpiece. Leave the main body nearly blank"

When was the last time the Tertiary Rider got a quick upgrade that wasn't part of a OVA or movie?

    Let try this again

If anyone has been watching Fuuto Pi and is a fan of Kamen Rider Double. Here's a fan video recreating the original WBX OP to Fuuto PI:

    So nostalgic!

Do you have what it takes to ride with the devil? The official Toei Youtube channel has uploaded the first episode of Kamen Rider Revice with English subtitles.
