Oh, same here, which is why I said I didn’t want to nitpick either (one). My fault for using what was, in retrospect, ill chosen words. I suppose a more accurate wording is that I don’t want to, consciously or unconsciously, be comparing the two works as they are ultimately they’re own things.

I read the Barsoom series when I was in my early teens, and enjoyed it well enough. By the time ‘John Carter’ came out, it had been decades since I read the books and the movie hit the main beats from the first book that had stuck with me and I love the movie, flaws and all. The first series I re-read on my current “re-read through” were those books. When I was done with the first book, I remember thinking how different the movie really was, but by then I didn’t care because I had spent years just loving the movie on its own terms.

Would I have disliked it had I re-read the series prior to seeing the movie? Don’t know, but I probably would’ve been focused more on the differences and what I liked and disliked in each version rather than just enjoying the story.

Same for Samdman. I remember the general beats and some imagery and as long as it hits those I’ll be happy. The trailer showed some of the beats and imagery I remember, with some changes….changes that I don’t care about because of the distance from the source material, so I’m pretty stoked about it. Which aside from SNW is the first show in years that that’s happened with. If Neils happy with it, I feel like I will be too.

I just read the third issue with Constantine, and it's interesting because it has the Mad Hettie conversation we saw in the trailer, and obvious it's Johanna instead John, and the conversation is different, but it still hits the main beats from the comic. It was the same with Morpheus's escape too, different, but still hits the same main beats. I have a feeling that's probably what the whole series is going to be like, and if it is, I'll be very happy, that's really all I need in an adaption, I don't expect a shot for shot, word for word recreation.

Seasons of Mist should be a lot of fun to see. The Doctor Destiny in the diner issue should be traumatic...

Isn't the diner from Preludes and Nocturnes?

And who better than David Thewlis to portray him? Brilliant casting there.

The Sandman has a huge international audience similar in size to the Witcher series. I am expecting we will get the full story over five or six seasons.

I finished up Preludes & Nocturnes yesterday morning, and now I see why everyone loved the series so much, it was really good. I really hope we get a Sound of Wings episode, that was the best of the issue so far.

I already own The Doll's House, but I like to rotate through 3 or 4 different series, with non-comics between them, so it'll be a little while before I get to it.

I feel that. I do that with my book reading, too. Graphic novels are about to get ramped up between this and my first-time reading of The Umbrella Academy (which I'm holding off until after season three drops). And I still have Persepolis staring me in the face to finally read...

I did a complete reread of the Sandman, followed by listening to the Audible audio adaptation recently.

    Damn, that was awesome.
Looked like I saw Gregory a couple times!
I had been thinking about getting rid of Netflix until the next seasons of Vikings: Valhalla or Stranger Things, but now I think I'll be keeping it until I finish this.

Brilliant! Gods, I love Neil Gaiman, his big brain, and his goofy humor.
