DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

I actually think this scene -- from J. Michael Straczynski's much-maligned "Grounded" arc, of all places -- handles the situation better and more affectingly:

Helps that JMS actually studied psychology, among other things. And I remember a lot of fans actually accusing him of ripping that scene off of All-Star Superman.

Also, I don't think this has been posted yet:

I dunno. It's like they say -- I laughed, I cried. It had been years since a movie had made me feel quite so exhilarated as I left the theater.

Most especially, that moment when I understood what was about to happen -- that all the orphaned kids in Billy's found family were going to take on the power of Shazam -- was thrillingly emotional.

Sure, Shazam had its good parts. But it had major flaws as well, and unfortunately the lead actor was one of the biggest flaws.

Superman stays with her for hours, from day into night, just being with her till she's ready to talk.

And this only after she demands he not catch her if she jumps, and he agrees. Would he have held to that promise? Not sure -- I tend to think yes, but it would have shattered him in agonizing fashion. Luckily for him, her, and us, he's able to reach her.

My only real issue with Zachary Levi in the role is that he felt like a different character to Billy. Other than that I'd say it's my 3rd favorite superhero movie after The Incredibles and Megamind.

Looks like fun!
That looks great. I really enjoyed the first one, and it looks like this has potential to be even better.

I've never read that, was she stepping off the ledge or going to take his hand?

So it seems Henry Cavill's rumored appearance at SDCC -- where some hoped, and others feared, that he would announce his return as Superman -- didn't happen.

Well, there's a shocker.

They also ignored Batgirl, Blue Beetle and (unsurprisingly) Flash and Aquaman.

This is how entertainment news is covered by the internet now. Completely unsubstantiated rumors are treated as fact for days. Some fans do not know the difference and get it trending. Than when it turns out not to be true - than the
original sources of the totally fabricated story cover the fan outrage they help to create.

Another part of the problem is segments of fandom really believe if you hype something enough online they can manifest in to reality. It’s delusional thinking.

That one was more powerful for me. Thanks for posting.

As much as I'm anticipating Black Adam and the JSA, I'm also filled with a sense of dread, especially as he's fighting them. The JSA is my favorite team, but it seems like in the live action stuff, they're killed off to set up a new story....Smallville and Stargirl come to mind. I really hope they do something positive with the JSA on the big screen. They can let them shine for a while until they get the next JLA film up.

Well, there were certain factions of fans who constantly predicted the end of Batwoman (for a number of reasons), and they felt quite vindicated when it was cancelled.

I can imagine a couple of JSA survivors spun off into their own film or HBOMAX limited series.

(Link is for Batman and Robin 1948 but they also added 1943 Batman where he apparently fights the Japanese after Pearl Harbour)

Or rather, he fights J. Carroll Naish pretending to be a Japanese prince/scientist named Dr. Tito Daka (even though "Tito" is not a phonetically possible Japanese name) and speaking with something closer to a Brooklyn accent than anything remotely Japanese. (Although I think Naish might have been trying for a Chinese accent, because it sounds a bit like the accent Benedict Wong uses for Wong in the MCU. Americans have historically tended to conflate Chinese and Japanese, even though the languages aren't even in the same family.)

Like a lot of superhero/adventure fiction during WWII, it's set stateside and focuses on the fight against foreign saboteurs and infiltrators. It's also racist as hell, opening with narration praising the "wise" US government's decision to force Japanese-Americans into concentration camps.

It's mainly notable for introducing the Batcave and the familiar appearance of Alfred. The comics sent the original chubby, Oliver Hardy-esque version of Alfred to a health spa and slimmed him down to make him look like the actor from the serial.

Thanks, I know nothing about them just saw they were added and thought people might be interested even as a curiosity

The latter:

OK, thanks.

Is there another event coming up where we might hear more about them?

I've been assuming that Adam will end up joining forces with the JSA and he'll be member of the team by the end.
Tubi (in Canada at least) added the 1940's Batman material

It's on the US version too, they have the first one all together as 3 hour 35 minute movie, but Batman & Robin is posted as a season with separate episode.

I'm bummed there was nothing about Supergirl (which they're apparently marketing as "The Flash" for some unfathomable reason). Especially since there was new footage shown at some industry event a couple of months ago, which has not been released, leaked, or pirated yet -- do your job, Internet!
