IDW is proud to announce a bold new direction in Star Trek comics, beginning with a brand-new flagship ongoing series that goes where no one has gone before! Debuting in October 2022, STAR TREK #1 features art by Ramon Rosanas (Marvel’s Star Wars, Ant-Man), and scripts by Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing, the creative team behind Star Trek: Year Five.

STAR TREK #1 weaves an epic and unprecedented adventure story that spans the far reaches of the Star Trek multiverse, bringing together characters from across the galaxy — and all eras and variations of the beloved franchise — who must band together to prevent the mysterious murder of the gods.

I was curious who IDW would pull from other Star Trek series to fill out Sisko's crew.

Data is certainly an intriguing addition.

Sisko's return needs to address his family though. He can't come back after three years and not see them, especially his new child.

2378, that's one year before Nemesis.

So a prelude story in Star Trek #400, that seems to be Gary Mitchell?

    It looks interesting to me.

Setting aside the three retailer-exclusive covers, what are the current options for people who want to choose between covers A through E?

Also, how are they coming up with the number 400? Is that the number of issues or stories since IDW got the license?

Number of individual issues IDW has published under their license.

Go to your local comic shop, tell the staff which of the covers you want to order. They will be able to do that for you starting tomorrow.

It looks like for Sisko what Star Trek: Picard is for Picard and Star Trek: Prodigy for Janeway - and is said to be a multiversal adventure spanning all eras!

Interesting no subtitle, just 'Star Trek', and controversially pre-Nemesis not post?

Interesting, new uniforms, Data & Crusher (I think) both part of the new crew, Data apparently a full commander, and set the year before Nemesis. The article mentions that this series "spans the far reaches of the Star Trek multiverse"... is it possible that this is a different universe/timeline than the one we typically follow?

Either way, I'm intrigued enough to check it out!

(The article also seems to imply that this new flagship series is just one facet of their "bold new direction"; has there been anything else released as to what else might be going on?)

You can if it's a Data from the multiverse.

It sounds fun, though the writing on Year Five didn't impress me overmuch...

I didn't read Year Five because I felt satisfied with the fan films Phase II/New Voyages and Continues to fill that gap (though I was curious to know how they ended it),. plus I'm waiting for The Mirror War to come out in TPB or hardback.

But I'm jumping straight in with this!

It will be Data pre-nemesis because they will absolutely have him find out his fate.

Wasn’t there a line in the first couple episodes of SNW about people who get killed always looking surprised? I fear this wasn’t an intentional ironic commentary.

I’ll read this and find out, but this sure doesn’t sound like a story I’d have said I’m interested in. Like almost all of IDW’s bigger stories for the last several years, sounds very fanwanky. The epitome of that was The Q Conflict. Just unforgivably bad.

I've been wanting a Star Trek comic book that was in the same vein of Marvel's Early Voyages or Starfleet Academy for a while now. I am so stoked for this...

Admittedly, trying to "prevent the mysterious murder of the gods" does seem a bit of an odd premise for a Star Trek line.

Isn't that the plot of the latest Thor movie?
