could just be supply chain issues like a lot of other stuff. I doubt Star Trek toys are high up on the “unload from the ships” list.

I check eBay every couple of days. Once they start popping up there it won’t be long.

I believe they were only planned to launch online in July, with a fall launch in stores. That said, they aren't in stock at Entertainment Earth yet (where I preordered them), so the schedule may have changed.

Indeed. I imagine the supply chain disruptions are continuing to hamper their efforts to keep a schedule.

Did Playmates ever do StarShips in the past?

I love that these guys can sit down properly! My bridge playset awaits...

First impressions are that Picard, Khan, Saru and Burnham look the best. Data is surely Mark Zuckerberg rather than Brent Spiner. Kirk and Spock look quite good, but maybe a bit young for the movie era.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if they show up in stores, but I won't hold my breath. I think they'll end up largely being an online thing.

Wal-Mart will probably carry them, they carry a lot of NECA figures and those new Mego (or Mego inspired) figures.

I'm going to need the Burnham and Saru, Kirk and Spock in the monster maroons too.

I’m pretty confident Target will carry them as well. I’ll probably grab them all, bad sculpts or not since I am no where near confident they will make more beyond the Prodigy stuff later this year.

I'm a bit more optimistic that Playmates learned their lesson from the last time they had the Star Trek license back in '09 not to flood stores with too much product all at once. If they can move smaller waves of figures, vehicles, and role play accessories, then maybe they can release many waves gradually over time. It may also help to keep mixing up the waves so each won't be confined to just one iteration of Trek...

Is it me, or is Eaglemoss demise almost the perfect time for Playmates to swoop in and take over their assets and Remake / Redo the StarShip model line, but better?

I would definitely say a gap in the market for Trek collectibles has opened up at a convenient time for Playmates, but their business is pretty different to Eaglemoss. They make toys, not fragile display models.

Yeah, any ships Playmates makes are gonna be toys. Not mid to high end collectibles and certainly not as detailed as Eaglemoss.

the tricky thing with the figures will be mixing in the variations of different “main” characters to keep the waves moving. Will they have a different Kirk, Spock, Picard, Data, etc… in every wave. Because honestly, I don’t see much mass appeal in a TNG set that has just Troi, Wesley and Q (for example) compared to one of Picard in S1-2 uniform, Worf in Klingon armor and Lore.

I would expect a mix of TOS/TNG era and current shows in future waves too. There are so many possibilities.

SNW Pike, Spock, Una; Admiral Picard and Q; Sisko, Kira, Odo; Janeway and Seven.

Playmates specifically stated in the initial press release that they were making this line to be opened and played with, which makes me wonder if they feel part of the problem with the '09 line were the more collector-oriented items such as the two larger scales of figures.

Indeed, and it was so sad that the second phase of the 3.75ish line was never released. Hopefully this line fairs better.

Virtual shelves, August. Physically in stores, later on. Maybe October?
